Re: Question

I think BlueDevilsFan is on to something. By default in simulation mode the game has fatigue off. I played several games before I realized this problem.
Also, has any tried playing a few games in both arcade and sim mode with the exact same settings, including the foul sliders being set at the same level. Maybe when people make the switch from sim to arcade the increase the foul level to higher than what it was on sim mode, which makes all of the players play less aggressively to avoid fouling. That fact alone could make the game seem slower and more realistic.

This is amazing that this could happen. If we see a QA opening on the Job Board, we know what happened.

Re: Question

Blue Devils Fan, I've been playing with fatigue turned on in both simulation and arcade mode since I started plus auto-subs, so whatever I think I saw is independent of the fatigue setting. Has anybody else tried that fatigue on/off and what do they think?

I just watched two games in arcade and two in sim. I swear I can see the difference in game speed. However, I checked the stats and they do not appear to be different from mode to mode--the game just plays faster.

Re: Question

TxSigmaforLife, I watched four games today with the exact same settings exact for the arcade/simulation setting. This will sound very goofy, but I'm going to have my wife switch the settings back and forth tonight, watch a few minutes of a game, and see if I can identify the mode. If I can do that consistently, then I'll be pretty sure that in fact they are reversed.

Re: Question

I am 100% sure that I am right. It is all about the fatigue being ON. It instantly decreases the game speed and eventually lowers shooting percentages, the number of dunks, blocks steals, everything. It might as well be called SIMULATION on or off because that's exactly what the end result is.

Re: Question

I think bluedevilsfan is right. It's all about the Fatigue. Play with fatigue = slower game since players get tired....

Re: Question

All you have to do is go into gameplay with the default settings and at any point pause the game and change the fatigue setting.

When you go back into gameplay you will instantly notice the difference everyone has been talking about.

I bet those people that posted they didn't feel any difference had toggled the game from SIMULATION to ARCADE but didn't change the FATIGUE setting.

Try it out. You will see.

That is all.

Nice revelation Bluedevilsfan, EA wasnt lyin after all. Spread the word on it. It amazes me how ppl have supposedly returned the game without taking the time to explore it properly, they might as well never have bought it.

Re: Question

Well, I exchanged 2K3 for Live, and I'm VERY happy I did it. I think people get too caught up in what's a sim or not. C'mon, it's a video game, and the #1 thing it should be about is fun. Is it realistic? In most ways, it is. If you pay attention to the Nets, when they run a break it's no more than 3-5 seconds...Kidd gets the rebound, takes two dribbles, rifles a pass to a streaking Kittles, layup. 3-5 seconds. I think Live accurately reflects the speed of the break. If you don't like the CPU breaking on you, get back on D.

As far as the inordinate number of blocks and steals, two things: One, on superstar level (with fatigue on ) the blocks and steals go way down. Two, I personally don't mind a lot of blocks and steals. Think of it this way. If the offense has cross-overs, step-backs, up-and-unders, and spin moves to help it score, then the defense should be allowed to have blocks, steals, and take charges. I like the added defensive control. If I'm getting steals, blocks, and taking charges, then I fell like I'M the one stopping the offense, not the CPU...

The symbols stay there in Sim/Arcade. I also notce the diffrence when switching to arcade. Its not as fast..

Wasn\'t Marv suppose to be in the game?

When i went to the Freestyle Tutorial, MArv wasnt explaining the Freestyle. You had to read the directions etc.

Word, silky. I love the blocks and pass intercepts. Without it you would be helpless on D. It's a nice punch, counter-punch effect, especially when playing multi-player.
