Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Depression doesn't warrant you a roster spot in the NBA either.
This discussion was strictly basketball until someone came in here trying to be an internet therapist.
What this boils down to is him being on a team, and the reason teams didn't rush to give him a great offer.
Saying he feels the league gave up on him is wrong knowing good and well the league is an exclusive competitive environment.
Lin is not a league experiment gone wrong.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum has agreed to a three-year, $100 million contract extension --- extending his current deal to five years and $157 million, his agent, Sam Goldfeder of Excel Sports, tells ESPN.

There's a whole stigma around dismissing mental health issue's so that's why the appearance of that got the response it did, even if thats not what you were doing. No one thinks he should get a roster spot for that sole reason.
If we're talking strictly basketball though, theres a really short answer to that.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Fam, you brought up empathy, and him crying...so not strictly basketball. It could very well (I'd say likely) be the reason he is reacting the way he is. It's not really about being a therapist as much as acknowledging that's a part of who he is.

You can't single out one guy if you're going to do that because then you have to conclude what those events have on everyone's mental
Too big of a rabbit hole. Why not talk about how average people who aren't making but love their jobs millions get laid off?
This is a basketball forum
My bad for thinking we'd all understand this was about basketball.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Because he brought up teams giving up on him and not getting offers and we’re immediately going to the mental health discussion for him whereas nobody has issued a single mental health concern for Melo’s situation and people still don’t give a damn about Iversons and name drop him in relation to Melo’s situation. Rather than immediately jump on giving Lin a pass for whining with mental health I’m simply asking for the whole story. Especially since he’s saying it in the way of pointing the finger at the league as if they’re the bad guy here or blackballing him or something. Are they blackballing him or is there actually a reason why he isn’t getting offers? Is he not getting offers or he just not getting the offers he wants? That’s all I’m asking

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Don't know what offers he's gotten
I also don't think he's rock bottom like he said
I guess it depends on the angle you look at it
Made millions, gained tons of fans and followers, won a ring, got a Harvard degree, lasted in the league 10 years which is twice the average time.
That's not rock bottom imo

Speaking of all this-
Looking at the list of remaining free agents is crazy considering where all these guys were at some point...

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Yeah, I don't think any of us were arguing about him not being able to get a spot. I think it was more his reaction and handling of it that we were discussing.
Essentially, it started when Maj posted his "well, he has millions and is an NBA champ - what does he have to be sad for?" take.

I like the pick up of Trey Burke for the Sixers. He could turn into a sixth man off the bench for them.
Ben been showing off his jumper in these pick up games. His confidence will be tested during the season. Should be fun to watch.

Season hasn't begun yet. Roster cuts coming and some guys still out there. Vince, Livingston, Lance, Jamal Crawford, etc
