I guess you can call it trash defense- but I thought pulling that out at the end of an elimination game was good coaching....pick and roll is the hardest play on the game to defend...and with that personnel its about 10x harder. I can see how HOU couldnt quite adjust. If there was a Game 7 they probably would of been more prepared.

It's like when yall get on OJ about his Curry gameplan...it just ain't easy, lol
Dude first of all they we're running an opposite action on the other wing simultaneously

Secondly it's trash defense when a player keeps getting matador layups on the I exact same play, i don't care who you are.

I'm not talking about them being Curry stoppers.

They're stop Curry and Klay gameplan backfired on them.

Houston choked and played some trash defense down the stretch

I kinda agree with both points. I agree with everything 24 is saying and what Jeebs pointed out.. but at the end of the day I think you make that play go to Draymond every time and if he burns you he burns you.. no way you let Steph get open, or send help from the guy who’s on Klay. Or just give Steph uncontested lay-ups.. And for sure when Steph has 30+ points in one half alone.

Especially at this point in time, as I’m not sure Draymond has those 30 point triple double games still in him like he did in those 2015/16 years. And Iggy has regressed a bit as well. I’m still surprised teams haven’t went to some hack-a-Iggy tactics any time Golden State looks like they might be starting a run. Under 60% on FT’s in his playoffs career, 39% this season.

Either way, big props to the adjustments GS made after losing KD. Aside from KD being a matchup nightmare, they seem like an overall much more difficult team to defend when they aren’t always getting him the ball. Though KD gives them something they didn’t have before him, as they didn’t have a great response when teams could ugly up the game and pace. Houston wasn’t able to keep doing that when KD went down.

For the record they WERE running this set in THIS series while Durant was there, even with Kevon Looney and Igoudala in place of Draymond.

Lets stop acting like it was a brand new set... They even ran it without the weakside double stagger screen, as well as the one play jeebs mentioned as a counter.

If you don't believe me go watch Game 3 and Game 5

Ohh I didn’t mean that they never utilized that same play, but sticking to that and constantly making the defense have to make decisions is more difficult to defend that running it once, followed by 5 KD ISO’s or plays that clear the side for him, and then going back to it again later just gives the defense too many chances to take away things from Steph and Klay.

            Basically what I meant.

I wasnt trying to say they reinvented the wheel or anything. It was more about timing. It really could have been left at "good call" tbh...

You know I watch these plays too man ..its like how Pop resurrected our elbow zip in the Nuggets series..

I mean if that was a misinterpret, my apologies, but it looks like you were saying they weren't running this set this series.

Its just that they couldnt stop it.

However none led to the wide-open Curry layups like the end of last nights game, which is why i said I agreed the defense was trash at that time.

I miss Curry balling out like this.

They are such a good team with Durant, but they are so much more fun without him.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

                  In all honesty,

Why would the NBA skip Saturday then put 2 game 7's on, on Mother's Day?

Because nobody is staying home on a Saturday to watch either of those game 7s.

Because a lot of people go out with their mom’s on the Saturday before Mother’s Day because they know how packed places will be on Sunday.

Because quite a few people opt to just stay home on Mother’s Day rather than fight crowds trying to do things so more potential eyes are on the game Sunday than on the Saturday.

The Raptors and Sixers game only exists to kill some time before Game of Thrones.

That Portland/Denver game is gonna be great but I worry for whoever advances, they’re gonna get wrecked.

Everyone has the Warriors. I really hope the Bucks can get the Warriors. And make it tough. But that's probably not going to happen.
