    Re: Thoughts on Rudy T

lakers are being severly overrated here, lakers are good talent, but calling caron butler dependable?? he's still young, lots of potential, but still young

i mean rudy has a lot to blame, becuase yea kobe's their star player, but rudy's still the coach

what HAS he done?? the lakers haven't won 3 straight yet, and in my eyes, rudy should be experimenting more trying out more new things

the lakers aren't good enough to just sit back and relax, and think that with time everything will come together, because before you know it, kobe's gonna be a 16 year pro lamar is going to be old and you still haven't won any championships because Rudy sat on his butt and let kobe run iso plays all day and let contributers sit on the bench

rudy doesn't even vary his lineups, he has stuck to the same one since the beginning of the season, and they aren't exactly doing too well, they're OK, but in my eyes rudy needs to experiment more

its not just with their offensive playsets either, its their lineups, rudy should be giving more players time, to see who does well, etc.

i mean vujacic played GREAT in the preseason, why isn't he freaking playing more now?? what's the reason for that?? why isn't rudy trying different lineups, like once again i dont understand why rudy doesn't try having brian grant mihm and odom all on the court at the same time

and as for rudy having to let kobe isolate, i dont think you watch the lakers, its not ONLY kobe that isolates, its not as if every single possesion its an isolation play FOR kobe, the issue isn't that rudy runs iso plays for kobe, its just that...the iso play is seemingly the 1 out of a total of FOUR plays in rudy's playbook

and why can't lakers win without inside presence?? what kind of inside presence do they need?? they have LO who can rebound, BG who can rebound/defend, chris mihm can block shots, kobe can rebound/block people too, lakers don't have any less inside presence than supersonics, and perhaps even phoenix (amare although he's a PF/C, he's not the same as Duncan/Shaq type of player)

sonics aren't particularly any better than the lakers are on paper, how come they're winning and the lakers aren't?? aside from lacking a good PG, which both seattle and phoenix have, the lakers just seem like they are being held back by Rudy, maybe he's a good coach, but not for these lakers

Rudy T is not healthy for Kobe Bryant. No player should be playing the minutes that Kobe is playing. The problem is without Kobe on the floor, the Lakers play like crap, and with Kobe being so stubborn, it's going to lead to an excess of minutes.

WHY DID KOBE AND JACKSON HAVE TO HATE EACH OTHER

man, jackson would be perfect for this laker team right now

not to compare kobe to MJ, in no way am i doing it, but for example jackson's bulls had no Center, no PGs that were amazing liek steve nash level or anything, i mean they had guys like luc longley, scott williams patrolling the paint

and they still played really well, but then again they had MJ and pip, but i think lakers would be a lot better with jackson then they are with rudy right now

The problem is, the Lakers dont have an identity....plain and simple. They arent a great defensive team(Thought I honestly believe they could be but right now, they arent). On offense, they dont move! Every play, people set screens which someone, usually Kobe, runs off of to set him free just to catch the ball....from that point, everyone jogs to the other side of the court to clear space, or they just stand pat where they are.

I mean, what kind of offense is that? Would it kill Chucky to come off a pick and pop a 17 footer every now and then? Maybe catch Mihm on his was rolling to the hoop? Or would he rather go around the screen and stand at the three point line until his defender catches up to him?

This is Rudy's problem. I dont see a flow to the Lakers game, at all. Half the time Kobe catches the ball and shoots a three with a defender on him, half the time Kobe drives and kicks to a teammate who shoots it, or he'll take it all the way. Thats it.

It's funny because the 3 or 4 times a game that Odom does get the ball for an iso of his own, if he doesnt just shoot a jumper, he will score. With ease. You see him just swoop on by and cover 15 feet with two long steps for an easy lay up? the Lakers need more of that, but unfortunately, Odom doesnt seem to.

It's kind of frustrating watching the Lakers play. I mean if they want to continue what they are doing on offense, at least play lock down defense night in a night out. With their offense, they can have a great night shooting threes, or they can have a bad night. But good defense doesnt ever have a night off.

Sometimes the players stand around because when Kobe has the ball, it's amazing to watch. Like everytime he touches the rock, something incredible is going to happen. And since they don't have TIVO on the court, they have to pay attention at all times.

Umm, I never thought of it that way but I guess that could be a part of it, but I would think that they've seen Kobe play all the time in practice and in games that they could at least get a little movement going on.
