Re: Penny wants traded
Originally posted by zappa55According to a team source, Hardaway's agent, Kevin Poston, contacted Thomas after the game and the two got into a heated exchange.
And please stop talking about Sprewell. No way is he coming back, thank goodness. He cursed out Dolan and his wife the first time he came back to the Garden as a T-Wolf. He's undersized and washed up.
And Penny is nowhere near a Top 15 player. His knees are shot. I love Penny's game. He plays the game smart, knowing his limitations offensively. But pushing Isaiah like this isn't good.
If we could get a solid backup center for him, I'd be estatic. But who wants Penny?Comment

Re: Penny wants traded
ya but who would take his gigantic ugly contract?
most teams have lots of guards that are able anyways
hardaway to miami probably wouldn't work unless miami just traded eddie jones or something (not sure about how contracts match up) but in the end whoever the knicks can get for hardaway probably isn't much better, they'd probably still be playing behind the knick's armada of guardsComment

Re: Penny wants traded
The saddest thing is, despite his $15M a year over the next two contract that he's got, you know there is going to be some GM stupid enough to trade a couple key young guys for him. I bet Knight or Ainge has Isiah on the phone right now.Comment

Re: Penny wants traded
The only way the Knicks get rid of him is if they take a bust or two with more years left on his contract.
Basically, this would cost the Knicks more then it would somebody else. Taking on Penny's contract wouldn't be a bad thing for a team that might have 15 million committed to a player or two at three years or more (and that suck as well).
I don't expect the Knicks to trade him. There's no trade that will benefit the Knicks. I say, hold on to him for this season and then wait for the free agent crop next year.
You can then go after a nice power forward at the maximum and offer the former team Penny Hardaway (with only one year left on his deal) for the Sign-and-Trade. That's the most realistic scenario."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment
