All I have to say is, the Pistons keep trying to attack a zone defense. Did Larry Brown NOT learn anything when playing in the Olympics?

The Pistons just don't look like the same team they were last year. They look as if they just don't want to play anymore.

Re: Pistons need a little boost!

Same record as this time last year...

Defensive BBall is not rewarded in the regular season like it is in the playoffs...

There won't be any trades, because the Pistons don't have anyone to move. Plus, they can't add salary if they want to keep Ben and Tay next year...

Dropping DC wasn't a wakeup call...it was out of respect. He asked to be let go because he was embarassed sitting on the end of the bench...

You may miss Corliss NOW...but he disappears in the playoffs...

        Mike James is missed...

Detroit is still the team to beat in the East.

This is definitely a team made for the playoffs, just like last years Lakers. Their intensity and game goes up ten-fold in the playoffs, making their defense that much better.

As for now, they're just cruising. They know they're making the playoffs, and they know they got a good shot a home court. With a team like this, the regular season means nothing.

For example, one of the more successful plays was having Rip run around a Ben Wallace screen off a curl, giving Rip the option for the stop-and-pull-up J in the lane or the drive all the way to the basket. But now, teams will trap Hamilton as soon as he gets the ball and give Big Ben that open 16- to 18-foot jumper from the wing all day long. That play won't work anymore until Big Ben sticks that J with consistency and keep his man honest. There are several more types of plays similar to this that won't work either due to this.

You must be wtaching the Pistons night in and night out to notice this because this is what broke the Lakers in last years finals when Wallace was hitting those 17-18 foot jumpers. The simple formula to beating the Pistons this year is to let Ben Wallace be their offensive weapon. If Wallace scores 30 points hitting those jumpers then let it be. But he's not going to do it every night.

I think the Pistons will be ok. They'll make a run towards the end of the year into the playoffs BUT a team like the Heat and maybe even the Pacers could give Detriot a problem. I see the Heat beating them in the COnference Finals.

As for Barkley saying that the Pistons are overrated. World Champions are never overrated. Give respect where respect is due.

I certainly don't see what the Heat have over the Pistons or anyone. They are a mocked up version of last year's Pacers and Lakers...neither one of whom could finish the job. If Miami doesn't get a 3rd threat...they won't go anywhere.

If Eddie Jones ever shows up this season, there would be that third threat. Also, a rumor involving Jones for Jalen Rose has been swirling around. Jalen is a great team player that can also score, but he's defense isn't as nearly as tight as EJ's.

Also, I think the Lakers could have won it last year if my man KB8 had passed Shaq the rock a little bit more. With the Heat realizing Shaq is the most dominant player in the league, Pistons fans should be just a little bit scared.

They aint cruising their plodding along, they need a little boost.

They are the defending champs and playoff time is far away but a little delfino or
splinter booty and that may get the guys burying opponents again
