Re: Kobe Bryant, daughter Gianna, and at least three others die in helicopter crash
It feels so weird for me. Just this morning I was just watching LeBron talking after the 76ers game about how much he admired Kobe as a teenager, going to his camp as a kid and what he told him as far as advice. The day after LeBron passes his career point total for #3 all time, this happens. It just seems freaky.
RIP Kobe Bryant, Gianna and everyone else in the tragic accident.PSN ID - A_Dubya13Comment

Re: Kobe Bryant 41 and daughter Gianna Bryant 13 die in crash!
Yeah, Kobe transcended sport as clearly evidenced by the outpouring by people from all industries and backgrounds on social media. I can’t recall a death as shocking as this one.
He was the Michael Jordan of the generation that grew up in the late 90s through the first decade of the 2000’s.
Tragic loss for the sports world and beyond.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Been thinking almost nothing else but this for past several hours. Despite that, still surreal to take a step back and realize we lost Kobe Bryant.
He was one of the top guys in sports. I wouldn't say he's better than MJ or Lebron, but obviously one of biggest names ever in sports. Kobe and Jeter were THE guys of the 00s. Hated playing against either, but respected both so much. Last week seeing Jeter announced as HOF inductee, now having this low with Kobe.Last edited by Majingir; 01-26-2020, 10:11 PM.Comment

Re: Kobe Bryant dies at 41
Felt so out of nowhere. I couldn't believe it. I'm not a emotional guy, but this hit hard. Everyone was shocked at work. I wasn't a big basketball fan growing up but got more into it in my later teen years. Felt like I lost someone close to me. As a new father of a girl, I couldn't imagine losing a kid. Also the families of the other 7 victims. The sheriff said how TMZ reported it before the families could be notified. I couldn't even imagine being one of those families and having their phone blow up not knowing what happened and having a friend telling your loved one has passed
Still doesn't feel real.Last edited by illwill10; 01-26-2020, 10:10 PM.Comment

Major, MAJOR respect to the Mavericks for retiring his #24. Have a feeling a lot of other teams will follow along.
But as someone who was born in '98, Kobe was SUCH an inspirational figure in the sporting world. Probably my favorite memory is being in class and any kid throwing a piece of paper or whatever into the trash and yelling "Kobe!" He was just so iconic not only for he Mamba Mentality, but now for how much of a genuine human being he was. He will forever be missed.PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Re: Kobe Bryant, daughter Gianna, and at least three others die in helicopter crash
As I noted in the other thread when the news broke, it was tough and devastating news to hear.
It's never too late to hug your family and friends and tell them how much they mean to you.
Kobe will be a legend and will always be remembered.
A lot of prayers go out to the families and friends of those 9 lost lives today.Comment

Re: Kobe Bryant, daughter Gianna, and at least three others die in helicopter crash
I really hope they don’t. I don’t want to be the first here to say something negative, but that seems really unnecessary. Every player is going to pass at some point, and he was already retired. I keep seeing people elsewhere saying things like “every team should retire 8 and 24, and change the NBA logo to Kobe”.. are we just going to do this every time a player dies?
Like I said, I don’t want to sound insensitive, but that just seems a little extra to me.

If he died at 75 because of a heart condition, it's not as big a shock and it'll be about getting nostalgic. Yes, every great player will die eventually, but the vast majority will die of old age.Comment

The most I see is probably purple and/or yellow tribute armbands.Comment
