I feel we have the “contest has been dead for years I’m glad they brought it back” posts every couple of years [emoji23].. also insinuates that contests used to always be like this one, or the LaVine/Gordon one.. I guess I need y’all to tell me which ones to go back and watch because stuff like this was never a year after year after year thing lol.

Anyways I feel like Gordon kinda got robbed. Had the best dunk and they easily could have ended it on that.. at some point not everything is a 50. Then he kept performing in the dunk offs.. I realize you get a boost when you grab the ball off a guys neck like that, and he hit his head. But this dude measured 7’5” barefoot. They didn’t deduct any points for Jones using his arm to lunge himself over Bam earlier in the contest so I don’t really see why it happened to Gordon at the end.

I guess the judges were suppose to tie it so they can either have co winners or just choose one. But one of the judges gave a 9 when two others already did (Wade).

Great drink contest. Weird voting at the end, but All Star Saturday night was highly entertaining.

The atheleticism is unreal.

Gordon was screwed bad, Common and Candace have both said they all agreed it would end in a tie but one judge (Wade) changed his score from what they agreed and had DJJ win. That's a damn shame man.

They never named the judge but looking at the shock on the faces of the other judges after the final score were revealed and Wade taking his ear piece off going silent for a bit you can tell. Common wasn't looking to happy and Pippen looking at Wade like WTF?

I didn't like Gordon's last dunk and I don't believe he deserved to win. He successfully wedged the ball in the nook of Tacko Fall's neck, shoved down on the ball to maintain/increase his elevation, pushed Fall's neck and head down, clipped him all the way through, and completed a basic two-handed dunk. Cool idea, wack execution. Reminded me of when Blake Griffin "jumped over a car" when really he just caught a lob and cleared the hood of a Kia with a basic two-hand finish.

I would have been fine with a co-champion at some point earlier but since the show went on, I'm glad Gordon didn't win on something like that.

That said, I am 100 percent over those prop-the-ball-on-a-person's-neck-and-boost dunks. We are a half-step away from just playing a giant game of leap frog at this point. I feel like dudes were fooling people five years ago when that type of dunk first became en vogue but by now it should be plain as day that it's being done so often because it's generally a cheap way for players to boost themselves and either get higher than they usually can or maintain their elevation for another split second to allow for more dramatic theatrics. As a dunk enthusiast, I find this to be a cheap parlor trick (shout out to those who literally just swipe the ball off those lobs and don't briefly push down upon the grab).

Can you imagine if Vince Carter boosted like these dudes during his dunk contest? Or Michael or Dominique? Dudes would have hit their chest on the rim. I want to know what dunkers can do when they jump on their own without jumping off backs. Same reason why I thought Diallo's winner over Shaq was wack last year.

Naturally, my favorite dunks from last night were those not using a boost. Gordon's 360, his reverse between-the-legs and two or three or Jones'. Those were beautiful. Also, Pat Connaughton was wack. The White Man Can't Jump angle was already done by Chase Budinger in 2012 and it was awful back then too.

Even though one of the thing I dislike about the dunk contest is the whole dap parade and celebration after a dunk it was kind of sad to see Dwight dunk and nobody really being there to give him some love.
