Cavs after B Diddy and Magloire
Just read a rumor at hoopshype that the Cavs are after these two via a 3 way trade. If there is validity to this deal, the Cavs must be considering departing with Zydrunas Ilgauskas, age 29 and a free agent this offseason. I can see teams wanting Z b/c he's 7'3". But I can see the Cavs willing to trade him, he's had 2 or 3 leg surgeries and at age 29, his prime is rapidly departing, really tall people seem to age quickly and get hurt more often. I also think the Cavs would have to let go of McInnis too, he's a free agent and at age 30 ain't in his prime. I think this makes sense for the Cavs, B Diddy when motivated can be the best point in the game. The Cavs would surely have to give up Anderson Varejao since he's been awesome for the Cavs and has upside at age 21. Magloire is nearly as good offensively for the Cavs, he's more a low post guy, and much better defensively rebounding and moving his feet. I don't think the Cavs have the assets to pull this off though, even w/Z, Mcinnis and Varejao, unless they're willing to dump a 1st round pick or two. This puts the Cavs in Finals contention in the East if they did this. Wow.Tags: None -

hoopshype is mostly crap. I remember I used to go there every day last year and they filled my head with excitement, and 99% of the stuff never panned out. -

Re: Cavs after B Diddy and Magloire
But you also got to realize that when they report rumors, and 99 % of them never happen, it's not because there was no trade talks. From what I understand, GMS toss around trade proposals all the time, trying to get a bite, or just check the interest level in their players. So it's very possible this trade is being bandied about by Cavs GM and Hornets GM, but yeah, chances are very slim it'll ever happen. If it did, the Cavs would be a powerhouse IMHO.Comment

Re: Cavs after B Diddy and Magloire
Cavs don't have anywhere near the recources to pull this off...There would have to be a 3rd team. If so, no way would we get BOTH All-Stars in the deal.
Then again, Z and McInnis have those valuable expiring contracts everybody wants...
Meh...Baron Davis is too injury-prone anyway, IMO.
Hoopshype simply lists interseting news stories from sources around the net...they don't really report anything. These are all local papers' speculations based on Paul Silas mentioning in an interview that he'd love to coach Davis again.
Also, Gilbert loves Z...Silas and the fans LOVE Varejao. They'd prolly part with Gooden before they ship "Wild Thang" anywhere. This would be interesting but I doubt it happens.Last edited by HMcCoy; 01-19-2005, 03:20 PM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment
