Amen, bluedevil. I just don't get it. Why do people come on here complaining that a game is too easy when they're not playing it at the hardest level available? Play on superstar, with fatigue on, and tell me that 2K3 is any more of a sim. It isn't. In Live on the hardest level, blocks are way down, fastbreaks are way down, speed is down. And the CPU will kick the crap out of you if you don't play defense. Isn't that what we want out of games? A challenge? A game that beats you if you don't man-up? 2K3 feels scripted, like guys are missing shots because of some predetermined field goal %. In Live, like in the real NBA, they'll light you up if you don't play D. Don't believe me? Watch an NBA All-Star game. And Live's CPU aint' t helpin' you. If YOU don't take control of your man and get a hand in his face, the shot's goin' down. I'm sorry, but I'll take this type of "arcade" game over 2K3's "sim" anytime...

Superstar huh, is that what u have to play on to get blocks n steals down. If so ill try tonite. I play on allstar and the CPU shoots to damn much, evenn with the bench. Does the CPU accually utilize the clock or are they trying to out score u?

Just listen to what BlueDevilsFan and silky said. They are telling the truth, no lies. On superstar, the game is so realistic and so much of a challenge. I play on all-star and I still get my *** handed to me on a silver platter

Do'h, I just now realized that bluedevil wasn't talking to waddup, my bad.
I put the game on superstar, and have the same gripes, I'll say again, if this was how EA treated Madden, fans would riot. Remember when someone was trying to post edits regarding NFL2k3 to improve sack numbers? That's what the NBA Live camp looks like when posting all of the modifications to make the game play real. This game is a great turnaround for a series that had lost its way, but sim fans cant possibly enjoy this game outside of multiplayer.

I guess your right about that I find it frustrating too, but I'm gonna try out MT_Nuts' player ratings idea to see if the fg percentages and such can get more realistic.

My response to superstar cheat level??? Sigh. You guys are telling me that 2K3 is devoid of cheat or catch-up logic? All games do this. You need this for a challenge. Without it, two things would happen. First, either you'd get bored beating the crap out of the CPU all the time, ot two, you'd lose, but not because YOU lost, but because of some predetermined percentage that made you lose. Is that what you want??? Look, both Live and 2K3 are ARCADE games that do their best to simulate the NBA. Live, to me, just happens to do it and be hella fun in the process. To me, 2k3 is a great game, just not that much fun to play. And like I've said nearly 100xs now, you can score pretty much every time in 2k3 if you try hard enough. There are no "realistic" fast breaks (3-2, 3-1, 2-1; yes, Live has these). And the passing model is all jacked up. Now, if you want to call it a sim, go ahead. I happen to think its an arcade game that does a good job of simulating the NBA. It just does it without much fun factor.

My biggest beef with NBA LIVE 2003 is that the freestyle control unbalances the game. It is a great idea, but it makes the game play easier than it would be otherwise. The game could also use game play sliders so that the user can customize game play. NBA LIVE 2003 is an improvement over NBA LIVE 2002, but it still needs lots of work.

I see what your saying, silky. I didn't mean that it wasn't good to have a challenge. I'd choose a challenge over dominating a game like Lightning's friend I've been getting realistic stats now so I'm not sure when I'll use MT Nuts' formulas.

Just finished a game on Superstar level. Clips vs Celts (me being the Clips). Some noteworthy stats:

FG%---Clips 68% Celts 61% (Now that's glove-like D, isn't it? Very "realistic")

Steals----Clips 37 Celts 25

Game's high scorer----Corey Maggatte 21-27 from the field and 10-11 Ft's for a total of 52 freakin' points. Good God Almighty. Sim? Give me a break. Had a blast playing though. It truly is fun. It's just not a sim.

Yea, i don't understand how anyone can get 37 steals in a game. The most I've seen so far is 16. Thats kinda odd...

I've been playing the game tonight, and I finally found a playable view, Press Box w/some serious zoom. The game has it's serious arcade moments, but I think it's a good game, but I don't think it's for hardcore sim fans. I'm playing a franchise with the Cavs and Lakers. I won my first game 93-82 with the Cavs against the Kings. I find myself just hitting the crossover button rather than using the "freestyle control". All in All, I think the game is ok if you take it for what it's worth.

i'd been playing for a few days and Live was a really fun game. And then i read about the "superstar" tip and now live is a really serious game. I feel like i just got another game. As for sims and all that, they're not for everyone. Some folks just like to play and play.
