Re: A hypothetical question for those who root for their home team.

I don't know what I'd do without my Cavs. If they left, I'd be sick. Its more of a "this has always been MY team" thing than a hometown thing. I grew up rooting for the Price/Nance/Daugherty/Ehlo/Sanders Cavs, and I'd support them even if I moved.

The Browns are a different story. I was cool with them leaving because we got to keep the colors and the history, but besides wanting to see the hometown do well...the Browns are my 3rd favorite team behind the Chargers and Dolphins.

See, I got very lucky. I've been a Net fan since the days of Drazen. I live in Brooklyn, about an hour and 20 mins away from the arena. I've been a huge Net fan for a while, then last year they announce they're moving. Lucky for me, they're moving 15 minutes away from my house. Best news I've heard in a while.

heres a twist on the original question if you born somewhere other than where you live now

but say spent at least half your life in both areas would you still root for both hometown teams (as i do)

or would you have gave up your original hometown team and or never had adopted your new town team

i could never give up the ohio st buckeyes, cincinnati bengals and or cincinnati reds that i grew up with from the 70s early 80s and i had already became a tampa bay buccaneers fan due to my vactioning in this area of florida as a youngin and then eventually moving here

of course i became a fan of the orlando magic, tampa bay lightning and later the tampa bay devil rays as these expansion teams came to fruition

the only non hometown teams i ever followed closley were the philidelphia 76ers of the Dr J,andrew toney,mo cheeks, moses malone era as cincy had no b-ball team and as Dr Js career winded down i became a Michael Jordan fan and rooted the Chicago Bulls on religously throughout the 90s until phil and mike left then it was the Orlando Magic exclusivley from that day on

baseball and football i have always been loyal

hockey i never had until the lightning were born (the cincinnati stingers are a very distant memory i never even had time to warm up to them)

i am looking forward to the Urban Meyer led Florida Gators (i never rooted for there football program much in the past) but they will never subplant my love affair with The Ohio st Buckeyes football program......never

i grew up in SA and moved to Dallas for my job. I still represent the spurs and I can't stand the mavs. i would NEVER pull for a team above the spurs.

I'll root for the Lakers regardless of who is wearing the jersey. I remember when the best player was Sedale "dribble to the left, and fadeway" Threat and I still followed the team zealously. Is there any other way to be a fan? If the Lakers move, and another team buys the name "Lakers" then I'm rooting for them.
