Thankfully for the Heat there are no extra travel days, and home/away isn't a thing. Even if people wanted to go down the "Miami must win Game 5 or else" road.

Honestly I get Bud’s issues with getting the most out of other guys and playing Giannis.. Milwaukee was a deep dominant team all year long, one of the best teams ever statically speaking relative to the competition. They were great only playing Giannis smaller minutes, they were still a top level team
Even when he was sitting..

I think part of the issue is, Middleton, Bledsoe, none of these guys are stand around and play off Giannis type of guys. When you get to the playoffs and pace slows down some, more plays go through your star, he plays more minutes, that means everyone else gets to play less of their game. In Milwaukee’s case that isn’t a good thing. Toronto forced them into making Bledsoe a stand still catch and shoot player last year, that’s not his game. But if a team is going to wall up and you put the ball in your stars hands there isn’t much of an alternative.

Giannis without a jumper and slow-ish decision making paired with Bud not adjusting his offense quick enough, and the roster construction not built around stand around and shoot players causes all sorts of issues not matter how deep and talented they are.

It’s a tricky spot for Milwaukee, but maybe playing a bit less through Giannis, or keeping with the regular season pattern instead of trying to play through him more would actually be better for this group in the playoffs?

Part of it is on Middleton and Bledsoe to not play significantly worse come playoff time, but they were also really good this year. Middleton played like a superstar, Bledsoe had plenty of nights looking like an All-Star caliber guard.. they’ve just never been able to get everyone on the same page come playoff time.

I do think Miami is also just a bad matchup, so was Toronto when Lowry and FVV started knocking down every three they threw up.. remember the Bucks give up more threes than any team in the league, it works in large part, but can backfire in a hurry against a good shooting team in the playoffs.

Expanding on this, all these guys having a good game like this is what the Bucks did all year long. And Giannis still had 19 in just his 11 minutes.. I think they have to find a way to play their normal game with Giannis on the floor and not trying to force so much through him that it hurts the other guys. Even it means playing Giannis more like Minnesota used to use KG and he averages 25 instead of 30, I think that’s what is best for their success.

Get him around the top of the key off ball, one dribble from the rim if wants to attack, if it’s not there just continue with the team offense.
