Bucks are a great team. They showed that in the East. Suns are just too consistent and savvy. Last thing we need after this series is for the narrative to be about feeling sorry for Giannis, or negativity about the Bucks in general. Suns winning this is an awesome story.

It's on Bud. The team isn't prepared. As you see with the Suns. They are ready for everything. They were uncomfortable in beginning. Settled down.... And never looked back.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

The on/off numbers right now for Giannis are looking like Westbrook's MVP year, except he has what should be two top 30 players as his running mates instead of Westbrook having a bunch of scrubs. Just unacceptable the way this supporting cast has played.NFL: Bills

Re: 2021 NBA Finals: (2)Phoenix Suns vs (3)Milwaukee Bucks
I would say it’s a bit of both.
I still place some degree of blame on Bud, even a tiny amount on Giannis even though I think it’s more the way Bud plays Giannis. But obviously those other guys need to step it up in a big way.. It’s not like Middleton and Jrue are mega stars that joined Giannis and are struggling as 2nd and 3rd options though. We see that tons of teams. Those two should theoretically be perfect “sidekicks”, they are built for that. When things are clicking Milwaukee looks unbeatable. But when do those guys ever, and I mean almost literally ever, just get a nice easy shot? If Middleton plays great it’s because he’s hitting Kobe and KD level shots all game long. When Jrue plays great, like that 4th quarter against the Nets when he was *** all game, he’s creating everything for himself.
They never utilize Giannis the way say Minnesota used to use KG, and Giannis is not a LeBron level playmaker, or just in general half-court offensive weapon. He never gets in the high post, doesn’t move a ton off ball, when he does penetrate he backs up and runs straight to the rim so the only passing angle he has is a corner 3. He can’t shoot but plays half the game 30ft from the rim. It’s just a really bad mix of how they run their offense.
Idk who to blame, I don’t think you really blame anybody. But surely Bud could do a substantially better job. Surprising they do a much better job collectively often when Giannis isn’t even out there. Hell their best all around team performance might have been one of those games he missed against Atlanta. So it’s not like they can’t run something better, it just like Bud/Giannis/Middleton and Jrue/Bledsoe/whoever can’t all get on the same page at the same time to bring it together.
In my opinion Giannis is right there for best player in the league, but I just wouldn’t pick him in a playoff series over Bron or KD because I don’t think he mentally understands the game like they do. Like Milwaukee playing like this isn’t like LeBron taking a bottom 5 team to a contender, and until Giannis makes that type of offensive impact outside of his scoring they need to stop playing him like he’s LeBron. Play this man like he’s KG. Who cares if he is scoring 23 a night instead of 30 if it means Middleton, Jrue, Lopez are all more effective because of it. Like the pieces are there. Make them fit.
It’s easier said than done, but for comparison Phoenix could easily let Book go Kobe all game long but they don’t. They do when he’s hot, but they don’t rely on that. They are just as dangerous playing him off the ball and have killed teams whether he’s dropped 20 or 40. That should be Milwaukee’s game plan also. They are well balanced enough to do that. But this letting everything frizzle out to just hoping Giannis can get around the rim and not have to take a jumper or get fouled, hoping the defense messes up and leaves someone in the corner because that’s the only pass he can see when he’s just barreling into the lane, and then asking Middleton and Jrue to thrive playing superstar hero ball all game… that puts a big cap on their potential.
But yeah it definitely works when Middleton is out there looking like KD and Jrue shoots well enough to be a positive on both ends. I just don’t get why they stay wishing that can happen every single night. It’s never going to be sustainable night after night.

This is not what the Bucks were hoping for when they traded every single asset they have for Jrue lol.
Bledsoe had a 49.4% TS% in the playoffs with Milwaukee. Jrue is currently at 49.0%.NFL: Bills

I don't think there's a huge talent gap between these teams...difference is PHX is much more consistent and can always fall back on their collective bball IQ...

One thing you will probably hear a lot in the next few days. It's that the Suns have the best road record in the league. The Bucks are going to have to punch the Suns in the month.Last edited by jeebs9; 07-08-2021, 11:31 PM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: 2021 NBA Finals: (2)Phoenix Suns vs (3)Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee is being outplayed and out executed on both ends. Milwaukee had plenty of opportunities to cut the lead further or make it a closer contest, but Phoenix always had a response.
We'll have to see if they continue to look flustered on defense and miss open shot after open shot at home.
I'm hoping for a better effort from everyone not named Giannis at home on Sunday.
And I think it's way too early to write them off especially after how the Nets series played out. Granted they benefitted from untimely injuries to Irving and Harden, but they still needed to answer the bell (and face adversity).

I agree, difference right now is coaching.
Coach Bud: play random!
Coach Monty: https://youtu.be/YxvhpakPT_0
Today’s game has been example what Suns have done all year. You switch, get tore up by CP and Book in the range.
Fight screens, shooters are open all day.
Holiday was tired as hell guarding and fighting screens all game. They are basically exhausting Giannis and Holiday

The Bucks are at their best when the ball is in Jrue/Middleton’s hands and Giannis is screening and diving. Unfortunately, that game plan doesn’t really work when Jrue/Middleton can’t make a shot to save their lives. The Bucks came out mostly trying to play the way you’re talking about, and they had some success early on, but even then, Jrue/Middleton were shooting like 5/20 or whatever and the other stuff started to dry up as they just couldn’t make the defense pay for their mistakes until Giannis started to take over.
