Yeah, since LeBron's block but I didn't want to type all that.

It is ridiculous how great of a help defender Giannis is. Just makes plays that no one has made since the Admiral and Dream.

Ehh he’s really good, but I would put him over KG, Timmy, even Miami Bron made freakish help plays too.

Giannis definitely makes plays nobody but him can, he’s a freak, but I don’t think he consistently has the same help IQ like that just yet. But yeah he makes plays even the two guys you mentioned couldn’t make. He’s just quicker, more nimble/agile, and has more reach.

This game came down 17 Off reb for Bucks and 17 Turnovers for Suns.

Guys on both teams got to stop crying soooooo much. It’s hard to watch sometimes. Guys complaining when they clearly fouled and when they clearly were not fouled.

Crowder missed a few. It seemed like the offense mostly boiled down to Booker pull ups in the second half though and he finally missed a few at the wrong time

I expect CP3 to be better. He just made some horrible turnovers. Ref were bad on both sides but I do think the Bucks got the more favorable calls overall. Booker needs to keep himself in the game. Especially this one when he really had it going. I thought he was getting 50.

I wasn't trying to place his defense in a tier, and he's every bit the help defender (his defensive IQ is somehow underrated) the guys you mentioned were, but stating that his length, quickness, timing and stride allow him to make plays like those two.

He'll never be the shot blocker those guys (Duncan, Garnett, Olajuwon & Robinson) were but defense is more than just blocking shots.

And he's fearless on the court. That was a very similar play to the one against Capela, although he was coming from behind instead of turning around and recovering, but he made it with absolutely no hesitation.

Got to give credit to Bud for a few things.

-Getting rid of Lopez minutes.
-Pressing CP3 full court.
-Finally taking advantage of Giannis spacing and involving him in that pick and roll or DHO with Middleton. Now Middleton seems to be unleashed.
-Increasing Pats minutes. He made so many plays tonight. Hopefully he can get a game like that on the road.

Yeah I’m not really talking about blocking shots, but Giannis just isn’t as consistently in the right spot as those guys every single play. But it’s something he still gets better at every year it seems.

But he does, like you said, make plays even those guys can’t.

AD just in general has better defensive instincts and awareness than Giannis, and is a better back line defender. But he plays with about half of Giannis’s motor, and he’s not nearly as agile of a player in general or nearly as quick off the floor. He does great on smaller players too, but Giannis is still a tad quicker and covers small penetrating better. For whatever reason that doesn’t translate to outside shooting though, AD contests deep shots far better for whatever reason. Half the time it seems Giannis just doesn’t expect them to shoot, it’s weird and why I thought Middleton was a better matchup for KD going into that series.

He couldn’t have made that play Giannis made turning, off the wrong foot, for example. But I’d trust AD more to be in the right spot on a rim protection type of play late in a game than I would Giannis.
