People open that door when they compare it to another player or label it “best ever” or “best since” though. You’re obviously going to have “yeah buts” when it starts that way.

I mean I think the play was amazing. The reaction time of not being able to feel it out and have to read and react that fast, the recovery of playing the drive and immediately transitioning into the block, unreal. That’s why he’s year in year out a top tier defender in the league.

But Giannis was also one step from the play, and has a nearly 9.5ft standing reach. He barely had to move and jump to make that block. Timing was amazing, and he’s literally the only player in the league with the combination of quickness and length to turn and make that play. But to label it as the greatest athletic feat from a defensive standpoint in finals history just seems a little ehhhh idk.

I think Shannon Sharpe had a good point when he was debating dingle dorf about the play.

He thought Giannis was in a "win at all cost moment" because he didn't have any fear of going up like that after hyper extending his knee on a semi-similar play with Capella. Shannon said if Giannis didn't make a move towards Booker, that ties the game on a easy 8 ft shot for Booker.

I think people can analyze or over analyze a play however they want, but the bottom line, it was a momentum changer at a crucial point in the game and it might hold up in the series as well.

Giannis did the similar block 5 yrs ago:

Absolutely. And also a great display of Giannis’s mindset in general. Like Kevin Durant might be the only other player with enough length to turn and make that play with 1 step that quickly. But most likely he doesn’t even chance picking up the foul there. Giannis is just wired to make the play regardless.

Its the NBA Finals. That game either evens the series or is basically the nail in the coffin. It CANNOT happen. We watch sports because we like the competition. If we didn't care about that and just wanted to be entertained, we'd do something else. You can't have the officiating and the governing body dictating the game, especially when it's this important. That's one of the EASIEST ways to kill the league.

If this series wasnet rigged bucks would get 🧹.

              They want a game 7 .

                Haha, love conspiracy theories.

Anywho, Giannis is getting a lot of love from other pro athletes and management for this question.

Even though he's won a couple of MVP's I really didn't know about Giannis' personality or thought process before this current playoffs. He has my sword.

                    Maybe it is rigged:

Bucks' Thanasis Antetokounmpo has entered health and safety protocols and is listed out for Game 5 of the NBA Finals vs. Suns.

                        Covid, I am sure.

I am not sure if the whole team is vaccinated, but if you are and get it, systems are asymptomatic.

He may have tested positive and the next time test negative.

Not just his incredible story & humble beginnings, but his mentality & thought process (Scottie Pippen's bitter *** should watch this, IMO) are why I love this guy.

And Giannis is out for pregame warmups.

I am sure they tested everyone on both teams by now.
