Contested shots feels a bit early, not that all stats aren’t, but a big chunk of the league has only played 3 games to the Cavs 4. He may still lead in contested per game, which would be a good showing for a rookie for sure.

I had no idea that the NBA tracked shots contested.

It seems like every year Hassan Whiteside is near the top of the league in shots blocked. But I don’t know if he’s widely recognized as a good/elite defender.

Not just shots contested but also percentages on those contested shots as well.

Barnes so far has been good. If he can develop a 3pt game, he'll be great.

17 points, 8 rebound average so far with a PER of 16.

Sure, only a 5 game sample size, but not a bad debut so far.

Didn’t get to watch but that Barnes coast to coats was nice.

Between Barnes and Mobley, I don't know who'll win rookie of the month in October.

I'd say Barnes if we're going just based on regular stats, but Mobley if we used advanced stats.

Could we give it to both of them?

I've watched both this month. Barnes keeps surprising me every single game. Mobley not so much. I just think the league wasn't ready for him. He's basically AD year in 2-3 right now. That's says a lot for both of them.

Barnes jumper is waaaay ahead of schedule

                    Mobley is a defensive nightmare.

                      Rough start for Cade.

                      1/8, 0/5 from deep. 2/7/2
                      2/14, 0/9 from deep. 6/2/3

3/22, 0/14 from beyond the arc. I'm sure he's not in game shape yet.

I saw that it's the fewest points scored in the first two games for a #1 pick since Anthony Bennett. Not great company there lol.

I'm sure he'll get it straightened out though. I don't think he's a franchise changing talent, but I still expect him to become a good player.

No Mobley is rookie AD, not 2nd or 3rd year AD, don't do AD dirty like that.

Hmmmm Do you remember AD's rookie year? Alley Oops and face ups. He didn't shoot 3 pointers. And he definitely didn't handle the ball as much as he does now.

Cade Cunningham... His jumper seems ok to me. He just looks out of sync.

I mean sure but he was just substantially better though lol. Year 3 AD was an All-Star, All-NBA, All-Defense, number 1 in the league in blocks, number 1 in PER, and 5th in MVP voting lol.

Year one Mobley MIGHT be rookie of the year, and if he doesn't hit a wall might finish slightly above league average PER.

I get what you're saying stylistically, Mobley already handles the ball more and shoots more threes (shoots not makes, he's 20% on the year) than AD did early, but even rookie AD was outpacing Mobley in just about everything statistically on the floor. Saying he's "already year 3 AD" reads like saying he's already a guy people are calling a top 10 player in the league.
