Except Westbrook has made 12 of his last 28 3's (43%), something Simmons will never do.

The fastbreak take foul is the next thing that the rules committee needs to change and then I think we reach peak NBA basketball.

I saw an article about a week ago that say that addressing that issue is on the docket.

Personally I think if you have fouls to give you should be able to utilize them as you see fit. Even if that means to stop a break. That’s the reward you get for not being in foul trouble.

This is why I love Dame. High volume scorer with a very good assist to turnover ratio. Like the perfect combination of a traditional point guard and the new era of point guards.

Monte Morris on the Nuggets has a career assist to turnover ratio of 5. He’s averaging a career high in TOs this season at 1.3, still good enough for a ratio of just under 3.

Me and you might be the only ones on here that will be in agreement on it.

But the “I want to be entertained!” folk will be leading the charge on that change so I imagine it’s going to happen.

I just don't really understand what it is supposed to fix. Fouls are part of basketball and I consider this substantially different than the hack-a-shaq type of plays because it's a foul to stop an easy basket/numbers on a break.. If a guy beats you off the dribble in a half court setting it's fine to foul him to prevent a lay-up/dunk, but if it happens at halfcourt we should ban it? I just don't understand the issue. If you have fouls to give you should be able to use them in any way that gives you an advantage. To me it just somewhat defies the common sense of what basketball is.

I could see an argument more if it was hindering games or excitement level the way the hack intentional fouls were. But I don't see how that's the case and all we miss as a fan is maybe seeing 1 dunk. A lot of times there are defenders back anyways (otherwise it would be a clear path foul) so in most cases we likely aren't even missing out on an open dunk anyways. Like I can't wrap my head around where the harm is, or where there is such a big jump in excitement by eliminating it.

I feel like before it actually had a label and started using the term "take foul" nobody really cared. They don't seem to be used substantially more so than they ever have and using your fouls is a tactic used at every level of basketball. Being able to foul when up 3 is a similar situation, and that's basically your reward for playing solid defense without fouling to strategically have an advantage late in the game.

And also how often does this even happen. Like maybe once a half, some games not at all.. And in your case you basically said you've become mostly a casual fan when LeBron isn't playing so this rule change would stop you from maybe seeing 1 extra dunk that you weren't watching anyways? Like what's the big benefit I'm missing? People like that the newer rule changes give more back to the defense, now they want to take something away again?

Is that one moment preventing you from enjoying the game? If they fix that one issue, will that bring you back from casual status and into die hard NBA fandom?

No, I still enjoy it just like I enjoyed it despite all the garbage the Hardens/Trae Youngs of the world were pulling. However I enjoy it more now that they cut that **** out and the same would go for the take foul, it will make the game more enjoyable if they modify the rule but it's not going to make or break anyone's fandom. I get the arguments on both sides of it...I am on the side of it's a cheap copout for a bad offensive possession/not getting back on defense fast enough/whatever the case may be.

It's really not a big deal like you and OJ are making it out to be lol, I made the comment right as a Bulls fastbreak was killed because of it and funnily enough it was a clear path foul. Most of the time they aren't though. Anyways y'all can stay on your side of the fence about it and I'll stay on my side.
