What do you mean how his numbers would have looked? They likely wouldn’t have been better than his peak numbers given him being so young?

It is of course literally impossible to quantify, but I have always felt like he lost a little something in those two years that he never quite got back.

After that 50 spot against Michigan to close out his college career I felt like he was going to be a sure fire top 10 all-time NBA player. He was super great of course but didn't get to that level though.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I feel like the perception of him doesn’t favor him as highly as his ability reflects anyways. A lot of people didn’t love how a guy that looked like him favored a more finesse game than they wanted him to play, and far too many people look at a handful of games in that series against Hakeem and just chalk up his whole career as that. Sometimes fans just see what they want to see when players don’t do things the way X player did them.

To me he probably is a top 20 player. You factor in the impact he had defensively and the longevity he provided as he aged in a lesser role next to Duncan. Dude was still getting 3rd team nods at 35 years old.. although admittedly the league was really down in centers by then, and they weren’t voting two forwards or “front court” players to teams. But still.

Him and Hakeem were equals throughout a majority of their careers (young Shaq too, IMO), but that one series changed a lot.

Obviously, Hakeem getting the best of Ewing, Robinson, O'Neal & Barkley in successive playoff runs added a cherry on top.

I've always viewed Hakeem just a touch above him but I still feel like that series created a larger gap in the eyes of many that never should have existed.

The media (columnist types in particular) loves creating dumb narratives and really driving that **** home. And back then it had the power to really convince people. David Robinson's career being represented by that series is dumb, especially because he ended up winning two rings. He sacrificed his first 2 seasons for military service too, and that would have been 2 more seasons he would have dominated and improved. And it's not like he had a disappearing act type series. He was fine, but Hakeem was going nuts.

                    Random NBA fact.

No active NBA player has faced the Kings in the playoffs.

That stat has been true for the last 3 years.

76ers looking into getting a new arena. Could be done around 2031. I never thought of their current venue being old, opening in 1996, but it's technically the 9th oldest venue in the NBA.

99 seems to be the sweet spot for venues right now. Lots of venues built then, but well see if one of those teams (not including clippers) gets a new one which causes a domino effect on the others whose venues are just as old.

Suns and TWolves are the next 2 I could see getting new ones.

Twolves have 2nd oldest building in basketball, and the venue was even built years before getting an NHL team, so this would be the first new arena built in Minnesota with the NBA and NHL team being involved (financially speaking).

And the Suns, if the Coyotes can ever get their act together for hockey, maybe we'll one day see a proper arena built in Phoenix to accommodate hockey and basketball.

It's always funny when anyone speaks up about anything, justified or not, they get bigger fines than actual problems that might have been caused on or off the court.

Plus with the Sixers, The Flyers owned the WFC. The Sixers just had a lease agreement. So the Sixers always had to schedule around the Flyers and the many other events held there.

So would the 76ers in this case get their own arena, or do both teams switch over?

It feels weird if a city has two major teams and they wind up in different venues. Sure, you end up being the top priority, but would two venues work?

Since the day the Flyers entered the NHL they've played in the same venue as the 76ers. 76ers only even had 3 years in general of existence before the Flyers came.

76ers get their own arena. As far as I know, 76ers were just tenants

It made sense before because Eagles, Flyers, and 76ers were on the same lot and Philles not that far off. But I get it, if they want to be the top priority
