Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
I wouldn't call it iconic, but I would say the NBA MVP was close to that; it look solid from an aesthetic standpoint and one of the things that add to the prestige/mystic of a trophy is seeing players from previous eras receiving the same exact trophy which happens to be the case here.
Zero problems if you want to name it after Jordan, but no need to change the trophy itself.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Here y’all go if you wanna know what they look like.
Possibly the worst set of trophies I’ve ever seen visually.

They look like some sort of souvenir drinking glass with 3d printed images inside of it.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Magic had one of the most impressive single games from a rookie ever (game 6 NBA finals) but he didn’t win rookie of the year himself. Bird won. Statistically they were fairly similar, maybe Bird would have a slight edge as he led all rookies in scoring and Boston in scoring. But he ended up winning by a pretty large gap because Boston went from 29 wins to 61 wins. Only 5 times have teams improved by 30+ wins, they did it with a rookie perceived as being their best player..
Really hard to compare post merger numbers against guys like Big O and Wilt but they basically entered the league putting up godly numbers. You could insert tons of others doing the same back then. Baylor, Bellamy, Lucas, etc..We likely won’t ever see that again.
But it’s tough for me to say any modern rookie has been better than Tim Duncan. Magic, Bird, Bron had similar well rounded years, MJ and Iverson came in scoring as well as anybody in the league, Hakeem and Robinson were great but a bit more raw in a sense. Shaq probably deserves an honorable mention here too. Duncan’s instincts were just at such a high level. Numbers weren’t eye-popping but he was getting them on a winning team next to David Robinson. From the moment he stepped on the floor he was the best PF in the league on both ends. Karl Malone getting first team defense over him is still laughable, Duncan did everything on that end. Even used him on Jason Kidd some, and to defend multiple wing players with their Duncan-Purdue-Robinson lineups.Comment

I’m sure it’s just the angle of the photo or the lighting or something…. But uhhh…. Y’all see what I see on this trophy? Nobody caught this when they were making this thing? Cause that don’t look right. You know outside of the general design of the whole thing

I'm ok with the trophy. I'm actually ok with all this. I thought the DPOY didn't have to be the Hakeem Olajuwon. I think it's kind of disrespectful to the spirit of the award. But I get itHands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

From an article I read yesterday, MJ had actual input in the designing of the trophy.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Here's some random NBA news.
Tony Khan has bought the rights to the NBA on NBC theme song.
For those who don't know who he is, he's the son of the Jaguars owner, and he owns All Elite Wrestling (the rival promotion of WWE, whose shows air on TNT/TBS).
Which now makes me wonder...is he buying it but also going to allow TNT to use the theme (for a fee?), as part of some negotiating tactic with Turner (to continue broadcasting AEW when their TV deal comes up)?
I like the NBA on TNT theme more than any other current network, but imagine if we get the NBC theme on TNT games.Comment
