Re: Tips for beating the CPU in Live 2003

The CPU help option actually helps players out that are very far behind. It also makes the computer play better when it's far behind. Whether the cpu gets back on defense depends on Defensive Awareness ratings and the type of defense you have set up in strategy.

The best way to take charges on the drive is to anticipate where the comp is trying to go and jump in front and hit the charge button right before they get to you. When you see the computer do a choreographed dribble move...usually you can draw it then...but with a good sense of timing you can get the comp to plow into you pretty regularly. You get the call only about half the time though, and sometimes they call you for a foul...but it's very satisfying to get a turnover with a drawn charge.

I just made a post about this...man-to-man defense seems to work best in not only getting players back, but having them pick up people on the break as well. Thanks for the tips on drawing charges...

lets keep this post alive can we?

i'll add this. have a problem with the crouch position. i use this often on defense but most of the time i get called for a defensive foul when i'm on the move trying to follow my man. this bugs me cause my PG always gets into foul trouble in the first.

i agree on holding the hands up. it does help. sometimes. without tweaks some shots are just impossible to stop. but the hands-up will be your best chance for a missed shot.

Don't press the turbo button. If you press turbo and bump into him, you'll get called for the foul. I'm thinking of lowering everyone's field goal rating as well. Just too high shooting percentages. But, when the CPU shoots from the perimeter, raise your hands, and push your man into his man's face while he's shooting. Make and maintain contact even AFTER the shot has been released (without pressing turbo). I've seen the CP shoot airballs doing this!!!

Tip: If the CPU is scoring on you down in the paint, switch to a zone defense. This will force the CPU to take more jumpshots. Be careful of the fast break, though. If the CPU tries to get into an uptempo game, you have to switch back to one of the man defenses and stop playing zone. The fast break does not allow enough time for your zone to get properly set up.

Not right now. I'm more focused on beating human opponents online. Maybe we should start a thread about that!!!

how do you time putting the hands up?

before they jump? on the top of their jump? or put it up the whole time?

i'm having trouble using this feature. they still score on me.

there's a certain timing in trying to block a shot wherein you dont block it but imake the player miss the shot.

wondering if there's any for the hands-up feature.

                    this is in superstar level.

I think you should put up your hands before they release the ball and it will work..

does anyone of you know any tips on how to defend inside. Cause with the outside shots, all you have to do is raise your hands how about inside the paint?

I am sorry...seems like the only way to stop the inside shot is.....BLOCK IT........ The inside FG% is way too high...

I just keep them outside...if they go in, use zone defense, if they shoot, block it or put up your hand and pray........
