Re: 2022 NBA Finals: Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics
Seen less of these playoffs than I have been accustomed to, yet I have been fortunate that for whatever reason a lot of the games I have been able to see have included the Boston Celtics. First against the Nets, then against the Bucks (not so much against the Heat) so I feel I have a good read on them. Feel I have a good read on the Warriors because of all the regular season games I have seen of them, which is just a result of how much I enjoy their style of play.
If the Celtics were completely healthy or if I trusted more their judgement, I probably would pick them as an upset. But I won’t risk that on Marcus Smart’s ankle and the on-again, off-again situation with Rob Williams. Then there still the problem of Smart’s delusions of grandeur (look at the last 2 minutes of Game 7 against the Heat), Jaylen Brown’s dribble problems and 2nd half Brown and, of course, “How many contested 3’s I can take?/I will settle for jumpers” Tatum.
Thought about heading down to the sportsbook (no online option here yet) to put some money on the Celtics, but I won’t risk losing my bet and losing the money it would take to replace my TV after a Tatum miss, seeing him not get back on transition defense while he whines for a call on the baseline and me throwing the ****ing remote through the screen. Nope, I don’t need that on my life.
I believe this Celtics team could overcome one of those issues, but not both. Yet I wouldn’t be surprised if they overcame the health issue with the benefit of 2 days between games (except for Game 3/4).

Re: 2022 NBA Finals: Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics
I'm heavy on GSW.
I just think Boston's great weakness is they go through spurts where they provide nothing on O, for some reason, and the Warriors will not let that slide. I don't know why that happens. With Brown and Tatum, that shouldn't happen.Comment

Warriors in 6.
The one thing I will say is GS goes through their own bursts of inconsistency as well.
There have been multiple games where they've gotten themselves into a big hole. And a lot of times they are able to overcome that.
But I believe the Celtics are better than any team they've faced this postseason. On top of that, with the way the Celtics play defense (#1 in the league by a pretty decent margin), it won't be so easy to just make a comeback as it has been against the other teams they've faced.Comment

2022 NBA Finals: Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics
Feel like they moved Smart to more of a traditional point guard role and now he has to run around constantly thinking he needs the ball in his hands rather then just let the best players be the best players. Between that and the iffy shot selection that Tatum and Brown struggle heavily with they have lots of issues in that end. Often times Horford feels like the most “sound” player on the floor, the rest fluctuate far too much between boom or bust.
Ideally both Tatum and Brown should be aiming for 10 free throws a night. Not super mad with Tatum because he’s hit enough huge shots this post season to keep taking them. But Brown feels far too streaky, and both are far too athletic to rarely attack the rim.Last edited by ojandpizza; 06-02-2022, 08:11 PM.Comment

Re: 2022 NBA Finals: Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics
I just want consistent officiating. I don’t care if it’s letting them play a lot, or calling it close. Just consistent. As much as I think GS takes this, and I would probably lean towards them if I had to pick a team I just wanted to win, I really don’t want the whole let Draymond do/say whatever you penalize everyone else for just because it’s “expected” from him.Comment
