Right, had all (or most of) the top US - born players showed up to Athens then a "Redeem Team" would've been unnecessary.

Obviously, Kobe was one of the people that didn't show (for clear reasons) and his recent passing gives them reason to heap more praise on him.

Wasn't planning on watching but I hope it was at least a little entertaining.

I really enjoyed it. It was short and sweet.

Well the 2006 squad that lost in the semis had

        - Bron
        - Wade
        - Bosh
        - Melo
        - CP3
        - Howard

Obviously they were all better players in 2008 but Kobe was the biggest addition to the 2006 squad and it resulted in gold so any Kobe praise is deserved IMO.

I love that story of all those guys were out clubbing to 5:30 am but Kobe doesn't go. They get back to the hotel and kobe has all his gear and is heading to the gym as they are walking in.

That's how revered Kobe was. And then that sunk in with the rest of these guys. This is what it takes. That next level dedication. And then they started joining Kobe.

Kobe brought that MJ level discipline/ dedication to the table. That's what that team needed.

I've never liked Coach K or Duke. But I will be honest with myself. He was the perfect coach for that team. And he did a great job. And sounds like they really respected him too.

This was definitely a pseudo Kobe tribute. The birthday scene and Doug Collins at the end really tugged at your heartstrings. That being said, I can think of worse ways to spend an hour and a half but it wasn't anything great as a documentary.

I loved watching this team back in '08. The gold medal game vs Spain was one of the best games I've ever watched. The hype was real. I remember getting up early to watch it (it tipped at like 3 AM EST) and being so fired up.

Just watched it. It definitely had a bit of a "man good thing Kobe joined" element to it but I don't it was over done or blown out of proportion. And they highlighted the other side of it also, that it wasn't just a Kobe is here to save the day but also Kobe needs this for rehabilitating his image (if anything I think that was the bit that was blown out of proportion).

As a documentary it wasn't anything special. For basketball fans its an enjoyable hour and a half though.

I loved Bosh's "nice to meet you" impersonation of Kobe though.

Didn’t really learn anything new, but that’s essentially the last 5 NBA related docs i’ve watched, lol

Watching this doc just reminded me how good some of those international players were. Carlos Arroyo was nice!

I really loved this one. I forgot about a lot of the things that it covered. At that time while it was happening, I was dealing with some things and wasn't following the Olympics as much. Great watch.
