    NBA Power Rankings

    By InsideHoops.com
NBA power rankings, rating the entire league from top to bottom. The InsideHoops.com NBA power rankings are mostly based on how good we think teams really are, not just how they're doing lately.

NBA Power Rankings updated February 28, 2005

    1) San Antonio (42-13) Manu Ginobili's all-star status is legit. The team is 7-3 in their last 10. Getting Nazr Mohammed for Malik Rose, who is good but wasn't being used, is fantastic for San Antonio.

    2) Phoenix (43-14) Run, run, run. The Suns are 7-3 in their last 10. Steve Nash makes the machine work.

    3) Seattle (38-16) They don't seem as good as their record indicates. But, they are. The Sonics are 7-3 in their last 10. InsideHoops.com will ignore the big loss to the Bucks. Seattle was just being generous or something.

    4) Dallas (37-17) The Mavs might be the best team in the league if they can ever get healthy. They're 7-3 in their last 10. Also, in case you didn't know, Josh Howard is the real deal.

    5) Miami (42-16) Wade and Shaq's supporting cast is a bit underrated. The Heat are 8-2 in their last 10. They keep winning, even without Shaquille O'Neal.

    6) Detroit (35-19) Everything is working. The Pistons are 9-1 in their last 10. The champs are red hot.

    7) Sacramento (36-21) Chris Webber is gone. The Kings are struggling; just 4-6 in their last 10. They need Peja Stojakovic healthy.

    8) Houston (32-24) Stop insulting Yao Ming. He's handling his business, even if it's not in rugged fashion. The team is 7-3 in their last 10. They look like a real team now.

    9) Cleveland (31-23) The Cavs are inconsistent lately, and 5-5 in their last 10. They want Drew Gooden to step up.

    10) Washington (31-24) The Wizards, now 5-5 in their last 10, are losing their high conference standing. They need Larry Hughes. He's back soon.

    11) Memphis (31-25) Winning one, losing one. They've been without Pau Gasol and Stromile Swift, and that hurts.

    12) Chicago (29-24) The Bulls are 7-3 in their last 10. Ben Gordon continues to rack up an incredible amount of fourth quarter points.

    13) Boston (29-28) The Celtics are fun to watch now that Antoine Walker is back. Could rise a few notches up these rankings soon.

    14) LA Lakers (28-26) Win one, lose one. Where's Lamar Odom from last season?

    15) Indiana (28-27) The Pacers are hot, and 7-3 in their last 10.

    16) Minnesota (28-29) The T-Wolves story hasn't changed. They're just not dangerous this season.

    17) Denver (27-29) A disappointing season is looking bright lately. The Nuggets are winning again, as they were when George Karl first took over.

    18) Philadelphia (26-29) It should be a whole new ball-game with Chris Webber on board. But don't expect miracles.

    19) Orlando (28-27) The team is currently undergoing an experiment that puts Steve Francis at shooting guard, next to Jameer Nelson. They are 3-7 in their last 10. The team is in disarray.

    20) New Jersey (25-32) Trading wins with losses lately. This team is limited unless Nenad or another big frontcourt player can somehow step up.

    21) LA Clippers (25-31) The Clip Show is a mess. They've just won 2-8 of their last 10. Bring back Ron Harper and Danny Manning.

    22) Portland (22-32) As usual, better on paper than together on the court.

    23) Toronto (24-32) Trading wins and losses lately. It's the Chris Bosh show, mostly.

    24) Milwaukee (23-31) Are the Bucks coming alive? Lately, they're playing like the good team from last season. Notice I said team.

    25) New York (23-33) The recent Knicks trades make no sense. InsideHoops.com likes Malik Rose, though. But not his contract.

    26) Golden State (16-39) Baron Davis, once healthy, will be fun to watch playing alongside the always-exciting Jason Richardson. Some decent forwards woudl help, though.

    27) Utah (18-37) A major disappointment.

    28) Charlotte (11-42) The Bobcats are 1-9 in their last 10. That's just fantastic.

    29) New Orleans (11-44) Scrapped the team. Total rebuild. It's all about convincing free agents to sign with the team this and next summer. And drafting more guys like J.R. Smith.

    30) Atlanta (10-45) At least Josh Smith is fun to watch while he blocks shots and dunks.
