But I also know the Nets have done a horrible job with player development since all of the young guys have regressed some.
We lost the player development program when Kenny Atkinson left.

I think Sharpe brings rebounding in my opinion. And just like he did tonight. Rim Run and could even mix in DHO with perimeter players. But yeah the vision is limited with all these stars

I sadly really like the combination of Kyle Anderson-Rudy Gobert front court

Edwards getting loose in transition after stops. Love to see it

And then 3 pointer, Rudy Gobert screening

As a 7th grader in '89 I thought I'd never see a duo greater than the Bash Brothers.

But as a grown man in '22, the Splash Brothers have completely shattered what I thought a sports duo could be.

Greatest Duo? I love them. But I don't know. They need to turn this session around. One more chip and I'll probably agree. I know I shouldn't hold chips over their heads.

your gonna hear that GSW is in his head but that was just a brutal shooting night by Tatum. missing everything and bunnies too, that's not been him this year. the other stuff is playing without your 2 bigs and forcing to play Blake Griffin/Kornett. also I really hope Mazzulla is not play drop guy. why do they continue to do that against GSW? makes no sense. I think i fear GSW more than MIL though.

Yeah, my original quote I was just in my own head from a Oaktown perspective.

Since '89 there has been Magic/Kareem, Montana/Rice, Jordan/Pippen, Shaq/Kobe, Aikman/Irving, Kelly/Reed, plus whoever put it down in Hockey or Tennis Doubles.

That 5th chip for this group will definitely put them in the next stratosphere.

Edit: Bonds/Bonilla (Pitt) and Bagwell/Biggio (Hou) deserve honorable mention. Also Bad Boys backcourt and Glove/Reign Man.

For hockey, you'd have to say Lemieux/Jagr and Gretzky/Messier.

Baseball, it's hard choosing duos like in hockey because you have so many players playing, and 2 superstars will have less of an impact vs football or basketball. Look at the Angles with Trout/Ohtani for example.

For me in baseball it was Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson.

I would argue there have been quite a few “better” duos than Steph & Klay throughout recent NBA history, but not many that are as accomplished and have that longevity. If that makes sense, I guess it depends on where you place that emphasis. The two obviously go hand in hand to an extent, but there is still some differences between them.

Just in terms of longevity, winning, all that in addition to being great, it’s still hard for me to stick them over Duncan & Parker. But they would be right there with them in terms of the past 20 years or so.

See I agree but I think of the Spurs as a TRUE trio...Duncan, Parker, Ginobli. I can't separate Ginobli from those 2 the way I can separate Green from the Splash Bros or Rodman from Jordan/Pippen or Fisher from Shaq/Kobe.

Lot's of great trios out there.

Even Memphis...is it a trio (Morant, Bane, Jackson) or is it a Duo (Morant, Bane)?

                              Re: December Games Discussion Thread

Personally I think Draymond makes just as much of a trio as Manu and you could easily classify them both as more of a trio than a duo IMO.. but this conversation was about duos and if you break Dray off from Klay I felt it just as appropriate to break Manu off from Tony. Warriors wins/losses have been effected more from Draymond missing time than either of Steph or Klay and we have multiple years worth of a sample size to illustrate that.

Even looking solely at last years finals where Dray wasn’t quite as good as years past. Golden State won every game Dray had a positive +/- and lost the two games he didn’t. The two games they lost were the only two games he had a negative game score.

I would say neither is comparable to something like Rodman. Bulls replicated the same success with Grant, and aside from guarding Malone in the finals Kukoc had surpassed him as the better/more important player by ‘98 anyways. That said in ‘96 Rodman had insane value. Talent aside it’s about situation. Imagine being the best offensive rebounder of all time and the guy you’re giving extra possessions to is the greatest scorer of all time.

Manu is a great player, because he scores his presence feels more vital I guess than what Draymond does. But Draymond assists/screen assist/offensive board “assists” on so many plays for Steph and Klay, substantially more than what Manu did for Timmy and Tony. How many times over the years have we heard “Draymond is their most important player” whether that was true or not, the perception to many is that he makes that team go. Curry was a unanimous MVP in 2016 and we STILL had articles being written asking if Steph or Dray had been more important that year.

It’s different because on an island Draymond isn’t what any of these other players are. But on Golden State he has the value of a superstar. Golden State was 26 points better with him on the floor in 2016 vs not on the floor. Everyone on the team is amplified from him and it’s at both ends.
