I will never make sense when a player does what he did. Especially during the playoffs. LeBron didn't go off for the series. But they got great help from the team overall.

I don't think Dillon affected the series with his comments. He didn't "awaken" Lebron or anything. This falls into he said something, and then his team happened to lose.
Don't get it twisted he's still a clown, just not any more than he was prior.

Also D'Lo going off shouldn't come as a shock. This is his M.O.
Will go off and look like a superstar caliber pg, then follow it up with nothing.

Funny how Memphis did a 180 in terms of how they are perceived though.
Last year they were viewed as in KD's words that team that wants all the smoke, and people loved that about them.
But then this year they got cocky, and they became the team that acts like other teams don't want that smoke. So people are cheering their round 1 exit

He talked trash, it backfired and he’s not the first nor will he be the last. The weird part about all of it was the reaction I was seeing from folks because of those comments. You would’ve thought he personally disrespected THEM [emoji23]

I honestly don’t know off the top of my head but I’m 99% certain he’s not the first nor last.

Ultimately I think it’s because of WHO he was talking about that made folks have the reaction they did. If he had been talking about Booker, KD, Harden, KAT, Kyrie, Embiid, Luka, I doubt his comments would’ve garnered *this* type of reaction, even with it being the playoffs.

Bron Stans are no different than the Bey Hive or the Barbs(Nicki Minaj fans)in that if you say anything negative about them, you’ll definitely hear about it and it won’t be pretty. In this case, it’s the Bron Stans and Laker Fans combined which is the fan equivalent of Thanos having all 5 Infinity Stones.

I’ve never understood why when one of these guys talks some trash people get mad if the player(s) they are talking about is better than they are. Like if you talk trash, and always talk trash, and that’s what gets you going and is part of your game you’re supposed to just stop when the player is better than you. See it all the time with Pat Bev too.

It was getting brought up every time after Game 2. I can see if it stopped after 3 but it kept going the rest of the series. To me, it was like “Damn, y’all STILL on them comments?” Lol

But again, I understand because of who the topic was(Lebron/Lakers) and also the situation(Playoffs). Ultimately, I don’t think this will make him(Brooks)some scrub or future China All Star because he’s still a good role player and good defender. Hopefully he’ll be his usual trash talking self next year. His mouth just wrote a check that he couldn’t cash and now he’s got a free 5-6 months to look forward to.

(And yes, I know Brooks will be ok with getting cooked on the Internet)

This was one thing that made it feel silly. Not backing it up for one, but completely ducking the media as well. But to be fair who knows what teammates, coaches, management, etc told him.

Nah, he does not get the benefit of the doubt on that. Yeah people made a bigger deal out of it then it needed to be, but the ducking the media was all him. The "he was just following orders" defense can sit this one out
