Lakers have a lot of the same issues.. you want the ball in Bron’s hands less with guys like DLo and Reaves, and you want to isolate Davis when you can, but neither of those things create openings for shooters. So unless you get clean transition looks the shooting of DLo-Raves-Prince is greatly reduced because if you aren’t leveraging AD as a screener to get Bron downhill there is no action within their half-court offense to collapse the defense.
Have to get more Bron-AD action, or get much more creative in terms of sets and movement offensively. The middle ground was ugly under Frank, ugly under Ham last year, and still ugly here… that’s not going to change.Comment

In that DLo, Bron, Ham huddle DLo mentioned they needed to utilize Bron at the high post, and Bron agreed and said because from that spot he can see everything..
Interesting aspect in all that (given who they are playing) is Bron is one of the few players in the league who can make most of these passes Joker makes. But the Lakers run none of this off-ball action, they don’t have guys who cut like that.. largely the only cuts they get are Reaves hitting Bron on cuts and lobs to AD..
Not sure what happened with AD.. he didn’t score in the 2nd half, but honestly I wasn’t really monitoring what his touches looked like throughout the half… weird that they found so much success with Rui, gave him the big bucks, but his only role now seems to be Bron’s backup through the pre-season and this game.
Just a weird dynamic to see them improve so much late last year, then have a full off-season but still have shades of the same issues that have plagued them since making the Westbrook trade… although they played a team that still looks like the champs.
It’s 1 game lol.. but knee-jerk arm-chair GM reaction from me is I’m still not sold on losing Dennis’s defense for Vincent being an upgrade, and still not sold on DLo (or any player of that mold) being what they need to maximize the Bron-AD duo.Comment
