Couple of LIVE questions that I need answered....
First of all....what is the difference between USER shot control and CPU shot control...if it is what I think it is where USER is more based on when you release the shot button and CPU is more based on the players actuall ratings,....then WHY THE HELL DO THEY HAVE USER SHOT CONTROL as the DEFAULT?!

Re: Couple of LIVE questions that I need answered....
you are right about the user and cpu shot control.
why is user the default? i dont know. I guess they figure people want more control over the shot instead of some random number."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

But with the User control, its too easy to hit three 3's in a row with SHAQ...i don't know....i just couldn't understand why they would keep this as the default....i'll just keep changing it before i play, no biggie.Comment

Re: Couple of LIVE questions that I need answered....
I think you are wrong.
If User control is off the game will assume you release every shot at the perfect time and the result will be based on ratings, skill level, who's in your face, etc..
If User control is on, all of the same calculations will be made (as mentioned above) PLUS there will be a penalty if you time the shot wrong.
If you are hitting 3's with Shaq you are playing on too easy of skill level. Bump it up and I guarantee it won't happen. I have accidentally taken 3's with bad shooters (I play on Superstar now) and they brick them really, really bad at least 90% of the time. Airballs are hilarious.Comment

Re: Couple of LIVE questions that I need answered....
Blue Devils Fan, I hope u are right about this....I have always been confused about this, .......and they don't really explain it in the instruction book. You may be right about the level I was on.
So, is USER the best way to go.Comment

Re: Couple of LIVE questions that I need answered....
I did a test tonight to see if I was right. Went into gameplay with shot control on CPU and shot 30 3's with a guy right in my face (all with the same player on Superstar) and hit 12 of them. Did the same test with shot control on User and purposely released all of them late and hit only 2.
So, as I suspected if shot control is on CPU or User all of the same things are taken into effect (coverage, 3-pt rating, skill level, etc) except that on User if you have bad timing the percentage drops even further.
Play with shot control on User for lower percentages.
Interestingly, as I was doing this test I noticed something new this year. In previous versions of Live if you were pressing shoot while the pass was in the air (IE a split-second before the pass actually arrives) then when your player caught the ball he would do nothing. You had to release the button and then press it again to shoot which really sucked when you wanted to get off a quick shot.
Now, if the pass is in the air you can press shoot at any time and hold it, and when your player catches the ball he will automatically enter the shooting animation.
This has totally changed the way I play when looking for outside shots adn is a really cool new feature. Kinda like a one-timer in hockey. I'm really surprised EA never mentioned this in any of their feature previews, because as far as I know they are the first game to introduce this type of control.Comment

Re: Couple of LIVE questions that I need answered....
Thanks for the Input Blue DevilsFan.....now I know.....but I have decided to trade Live in for either ID or 2k3 this yr. Live was fun, but its just too hard to play defense in this game (for me). The Cpu is constantly fastbreaking on my *** and they are always on fire from the perimeter.....plus the 9-10 blocks per game by my pg is getting too aggravating.Comment

Re: Couple of LIVE questions that I need answered....
I would'nt go with user if i was u b/c once you learn how to get the timing right on the shot, you will almost never miss.
For the first few games you'll have good shot%'s but after 10 or more games you would have mastered the J.
Putting it on Cpu goes with the real ratings for a player which I prefer.
All the Nba Lives had this feature and I never use the user shot control.
But if its your prefrence, go with it.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

I fu have a user profile it will only aplly to u.
U should be able to tell if the other payer is using user by the way he shoots.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Couple of LIVE questions that I need answered....
Graphic you are wrong. Putting shot control to CPU will only make your Players shoot a HIGHER percentage, not lower, as it is one less 'penalty' applied against the likelihood of a shot going in. All other factors are constant.
Think about it.Comment

cool...this is a good idea, one-timers in hockey have been a staple for a long time and it's a neat implementation to carry it over to LiveComment
