As expect, the Cleveland disfunction pieces are coming out. I do believe that they will have to choose between Garland and Mitchell. I never thought that was a good pairing. It comes down to whether they want to build around Mitchell or get the most out of Mitchell trade. I just see the Nets, Heat, Rockets as the likely candidates. I just don't see Mitchell on the Nets as raising their ceiling any more than being a top 6 team. I do like his fit on the Heat.

And if they’re a top 6 team next year, that’s absolutely progress and bodes well for the following offseason and going forward.
The only problem is we’re the Nets and we’ve seen what happens when they get good things and it’s never ended well lol.#RespectTheCultureComment

That’s assuming it will be the only move the Nets will make once they get him, which I doubt it would be. Depending on how they do, you can build off the season and use Mitchell/Bridges to attract other high end role players.

With Cleveland, they don’t need a roster reset because it’s not bad at all.
New HC and a few tweaks(whether it’s with Mitchell or Garland)but they can still be a playoff team.#RespectTheCultureComment

I'm curious about your team. I like Mikal Bridges, but seeing reports that the Nets turned down Jalen Green and getting their first round picks back is wild. Mikal is better as a 2nd or 3rd option. I think Bridges would be a great third option for the Sixers. But for the Nets, I don't know how much throwing Donovan Mitchell really raises the ceiling more than a 2nd round team. Let's say they trade Cam Johnson, Schroder, and picks for Mitchell, I think that's good for Cleveland. For the Nets, I think the hope would be Simmons contract coming off the books and using that to land a big name to pair with Bridges and Mitchell.Comment

The Mitchell move(assuming they go through with it and that they lock him up to an extension if he turns down one from Cleveland this year)would be the first step to bringing in more high end talent. I think the days of teams having 3 stars/big names are pretty much done with this new CBA so if they can use Bridges/Mitchell to bring in some high end role players, that’s much better.
Basically the plan for the next year is Get Mitchell to pair with Bridges, get in the playoffs and look good enough going into next offseason to be attractive again. Now if he ends up staying in Cleveland or goes somewhere else, then they’ll more than likely just move a few guys, bring in some role players, focus on developing/building a “new system/culture” with this new coaching staff and then go into the next offseason with plenty of cap space and picks to go in whichever direction. But we know that Tsai/Marks don’t wanna do what they were doing in 2016-2018 even though EYE think that’s the best route for this team.
Feel like the days of guys actually hitting the open market like in past offseason are dead with this new CBA so if they wanted to acquire names/stars, it’ll have to done thru trades more than likely.#RespectTheCultureComment

I’ve seen like 20 different things from reporters in both cities and it’s still not known which picks exactly were being offered but it’s still not a good look especially seeing how we gifted another franchise a top 3 pick.

My only thing with the Nets is that it feels like it's a Mitchell or bust outlook. I still think there is a good chance that Mitchell secures the bag and extends. If they strike out on Mitchell, I don't know where the Nets pivot because they can't just run back the same squad. Garland would be a good fit, but a Garland-Bridges pairing doesn't sound as appealing long term as Mitchell-Bridges. I just think if the Nets don't land Mitchell or whoever their target is, they need to figure out their direction.
Guys aren't hitting the open market anymore. 2025 on paper is a better FA market, but that's only if guys actually become FAs. Mitchell is either extending in Clev or being Traded and extended. Markkanen could likely be extended. I could see Ingram being traded and extended if he gets moved to a team like Detriot. The rest are guys with Options or high level role players at best. Even with the option FAs, the main ones that will opt out are the post-prime guys still looking for a bag or the 2nd tier guys that want 1st tier money. Where as a Sixers fan, I'm still not sold on PG13. It's just one of better options because of the theoretical fit and it allows them to keep draft assets to make trades for high level role players.Comment

Hart and OG are available today for the Knicks.
Need the Pacers to finish these dudes off. I’ll sign up for a Boston chip before I ever sign up for a Knicks one.#RespectTheCultureComment

Great momentum busting block by Siakam at the end of the half. Knicks still should feel pretty good just down 15 because the Pacers weren't missing anything and Brunson has been off.Comment
