    Franchise: 2k3 vs LIVE

I don't want to start a flame war here, but in your opinion, which game has the better franchise mode....Gameplay aside.

I really like both games and I think this would be my deciding factor. If you don't own both, then just state what you like or dislike about the franchise in the game u have.

Presentation, Stats, stat layout, ....which game does it better?

I haven't played Live yet. (Nor do I plan to). I'm sure its a great game, I read all the reviews. NBA 2k3 just fit what I wanted more, and it's the best basketball games I've ever played. Anyways, on to 2k3's franchise mode: I love the backround screen, where you are at a desk...it just adds a little something. It just feels like you are the GM or coach of your team. They give you so many options in there as well...hiring and firing of coaches, and coaches are rated in certain areas. I also like their money system, you have so much alloted, but you also have a salary cap you have to follow. And you can choose how much money you want to spend on your coach and the rookie workouts you do. A very nice touch. I like the sliders they have for coaching strategy, so when you are simulating, you can still decide how your team plays, and who your top offensive weapons will be. I also love how the draft is done, where you are actually in the draft room and have a PDA to communicate with coaches. Also, the workout session before the draft is very nice, where you can find out more about potential picks. I love the training camp feature, where you decide which specific areas a player can work on. In short, the franchise mode for 2k3 is very, very good. I love it. The only complaint I have is that the free-agent signing could have been done a little better. But it's servicable as is.

NBA2K3 has the better franchise than nbalive. NBA2K3 again is more of a simulation and their franchise mode is pretty deep. Nba live is more arcade/pickup and play and their franchise mode is basic. I don't think nba live intended to make a deep franchise mode in the first place since the game is really a game played more on the fly than long term. I am not a huge franchise guy so the nba live franchise is perfect for me. I either would not use it or just let it sim auto and know what's going on.

I haven't played 2K3 yet, but if the franchise is anything like NFL 2K3, awesome! Live's franchise just blows goats! Still the same from Live 2000. Thats why i'm fed up with EA's "updates" every year, same goes with the NHL franchise. The game might as well be called NBA Live 2000 v1.4

Yes Live's franchise does 'blow goats' in comparison to that of 2K3, but come on the improvements to Live 03 are significant enough to be called more than Live 2000 v1.4 =P

                Re: Franchise: 2k3 vs LIVE

I have both games and will describe the real diffrences.
                First with 2k3:
Their franchise has a lot of depth.
You can Hire/fire coaches, check injury reports for each team. Put your players on the trading block and check out if other teams have players on the block.
Switch gameplay stratergies before each game.
it has all of the basic stats but with a rookie watch to check all rookie stats per team, Allstar votes for each position.
Check your coach card ala' madden with wins/lost and playoff percentages.
And in your calender u can check out the espn nightly recap each day w/ hot and cold players.
Thats all that i can think off, have'nt seen the offseason features yet but am looking forward to the draft, scouting and training camps. + next season they'll start with preason games. Oh yea!

                And now for live:
their franchise is pretty basic in terms of depth.
They have the GM thingy where you can look at injuries and transactions but its somewhat confusing since u have to cycle up and down on the screen for the entire season.
all the basic stats, team comparisons, reorder roster, trades and sign free agents. woo, woo, woo.

Its pretty basic like i said but the last 2 lives had all the same.
                Nothing Speacial.

I also forgot that both games have awards at the end of season and playoffs.
It all goes down to this: 2k3 has screens that take u to screens that take u to screens.
Live has 1 button press screens that are easy to navigate.

Hopefully (yeah, right) now that Live has its gameplay back on track, it can focus on the franchise mode for next year. This was actually a tough point for me, and was almost the reason why I stayed with 2K3. Then I realized I didn't have that much time for franchise mode with 2K3 and got Live. Now that I'm playing Live, er, now that I'm ADDICTED to Live, I wish it had a deeper franchise mode! It's funny, but Live actually has me up till 2-3 in the morning playing games again!
