Re: 2024 Paris Olympics Basketball Thread
I feel like 65 percent of my comments in these discussion threads for the past 10 years has been me stating how grateful I am to be able to watch Steph play. I have never, ever seen anything like him. And he just keeps doing it.
Perhaps someone will come along some day and emulate Steph and maybe shoot it better than he ever did, but I'm not sure it'll ever have the same feeling of watching Steph do this in the here and now.Comment

His last 3 I was like “No…YES” it was that ridiculous. I didn’t even think it would draw rim, let alone go in. Just insane…

(The other moments I remember offhand: Kris Draper's OT winner in '98, VC dunk contest in 2000, Tayshaun's block in '04, Malice in '04, Steph's double-bang vs. Thunder.)Last edited by VDusen04; 08-10-2024, 04:48 PM.Comment

Even more dominant than the men.
The game today was amazing though, they pulled out a 1 point win vs. France

Re: 2024 Paris Olympics Basketball Thread
That womens finals had one of the weirder endings I've seen.
France down by 4, hits a 3 to make it a 1 point game, US hits their 2 FTs, France gets the ball back down 3 with no timeouts left and seconds on the clock, runs the ball up the court, shoots and scores at the buzzer!
Only problem, the France player had half their foot over the 3pt line so it's only an 2 and that's how France lost.
I was confused at that play too. Was this a JR Smith situation all over again the player didn't know the score and thought they were just down by 2? Or she just didn't know where she was on the court and just shot it not realizing she was shooting a 2 instead of a 3?
If the roles were reversed or this was an NBA game, that play might be up there with the JR Smith moment or Chris Webbers timeout moment. One step back and game would be tied and France still has a shot at winning gold.Last edited by Majingir; 08-11-2024, 11:43 AM.Comment
