    Your Ideal Team. . .

Just wonder who everyone would want on their ideal team. This includes which team you would want, who owns it, team GM/president, coaches and coaching staff, and finally the players. Take into account all the nuances that go into this. Things like team chemistry, player chemistry, weather where you live, mascots, cheerleaders. . . pretty much everything. Here is mine.

    Team:
Los Angeles Lakers - The weather is always nice in Southern California, and there are miles of beaches everywhere. Lots to do, lots to see, and very nice looking fake chix.

    Owner:
Mark Cuban - Very funny guy, who loves the game of basketball. Really gets into it. Also, has tons of cash and treats his players very well.

    GM/President:
Jerry West - There is no one better in the biz than Mr. Logo himself at evaluating talent and putting together a winning team.

    Coach/Coaching Staff:
Phil Jackson and Co. - Also, no one better in the biz. Has very strange, but effective, ways in motivating his team, and getting the best out of everyone.

    Players:
PG: Jason Kidd - Best point in the L. Can't shoot too well, but is a pass first PG anyways. Very team oriented player that makes everyone around him better.

SG: Tracy McGrady - Slashing all-around talent who is only getting better. Isn't an "all about me" player, and is willing to share the ball.

SF: Kevin Garnett - Super versatile big man. Team oriented who like to get everyone involved. His energy alone is a big boost.

PF: Brian Grant - Hard-nose worker who knows his role on a team. Doesn't look to score as much, but works hard for position and for boards. Gives 100% every night.

C: Shaquille O'Neal - Who wouldn't want the most dominate big man in the game on their team. No one has an answer for him.

    Bench:
Robert Horry - Great help off of the bench. Excellent clutch performer. Very good veteran who knows his role.

Quentin Richardson - Slashing shooter who could very well start on another team. Put up very good numbers, and isn't afraid to shoot the ball.

Bobby Jackson - Great backup PG. Just look at what he does in SacTown. Nuff said.

Scott Polard - Also an excellent backup C who works hard and gets down and dirty down low.

Corliss Williamson - Reigning 6th man who is a great spark off the bench.

Malik Rose - Can't say enough about his hard work. Goes to the glass. Great for his size.

Job Barry - All-around great numbers. Shoots very well. Can help spread the floor.

Well, that's my team. I know that it's near impossible to get these players together, especially cause of KG's contract, but with Cuban and his dollars, you never know. I think this team could possibly be one of the best ever. Let me know what your teams would be.

Re: Your Ideal Team. . .

I think the bench was supposed to be for actual bench players.

I agree with most of the first team. Differences:

I'd rather be in Miami than LA. Same nice weather and fake chix but without the dynasty carrying expectations. I'd rather bring my team up...I'd settle for the Clippers too.

Owner I don't mind your choice but would rather have Philly's owner. He's about as wild and crazy without the attitude.

PG Kidd is arguably the best in the league but he's been in the league too long to still have such an ugly shot so best or not I'm goin with somebody else. I'll take Baron Davis. He's got all the tools a dominant PG should have but is less shot oriented than most of the other scoring PGs in the league. I don't know if I'd consider him the BEST PG in any significant areas but all around he's my man on the squad.

SF I'm going with Dirk Diggler. KG's a beast but your team's a little unbalanced from the outside. TMac can hit the three but isn't really a deep threat and as we already said, Kidd can't really shoot. Dirk's got it all on O and I only lose KG's D with this switch.

PF is Duncan. Get my D back and I'll need his offense when I make my final change...

C I just don't want my team built around a center so you can keep the big entertainer. I'll go with Deke.

I don't like WIlliamson so I'd get rid of him. I'd sub him with MJ. He can just play the 4th qtrs to keep his knees fresh and will get everyone to play harder just b/c he's MJ.

Nice changes wwharton. Good calls on most of them. There are a lot of scorers on your team now though. Might have some trouble sharing the ball. Maybe not though. MJ would be great off the bench.

As for the Ho man up there. LMAO. You must love dem hoes!!

Lots of scorers for sure but Davis scores a lot but plays like a pg. He'd be the only one I'd worry about and would sub him with Nash if anyone. I like my point to be able to hit 3's or any shot after relocating and that's not Kidd. Not that I'd kick Kidd off my team but this is all hypothetical anyway right?

I think all those guys can score but are unselfish. TMac, you already mentioned, Dirk plays on a semi all star offensive team as it is, Duncan definitely isn't a ball hog and Deke's just happy to be there on O.

Plus with that bench that you mostly put together, there's lots of D and chemistry which is usually how it is...Talent in the starters, chemistry on the bench. Only problem is they'd go something like 78-4.

Re: Your Ideal Team. . .

Here's mine. I tried to make my team with a more realistic mix of superstar players and role players. I think no team would do really well without its' roleplayers because otherwise, there's not enough shots or minutes to go around for everybody and then guess what, next thing you know you're the Portland Trailblazers...

Team: Dallas Mavericks - the fans are really starting to get behind their team, now that they've stopped sucking. Plus, they haven't won a championship (i don't think) so this is the team that will bring home the bacon....

Owner: Maloof bros. Not as much money as Cuban but if I had a team, I'd probably want to have owners who are at least semi-concious about salary and the salary cap. But as with the Bibby signing during the off-season, the Maloofs have proven they are still willing to shell out the big bucks for the good free agents.

GM - Jerry West. best talent scouter in the league

Coach - I like Byron Scott...an up and coming hungry young coach. Got swept in the finals last year by the Lakers and now has something to prove...

                  Starting Lineup
PG - Gary Payton: tenacious defender, and great passer (third in the league last year). Also, this is his contract year so he's gonna step it up. If he doesn't play so well, we at least clear a ton of cap space when he leaves. He's a proven leader. Kidd was a consideration but I need a little more offensive firepower sometimes...despite what people say about him being clutch, well, he might be but that doesn't mean he can score. See last years Finals as an example. Also, Kidd had that "incident" and we don't need that kind of distraction on this team...

SG - Doug Christie: decent shooter, but not too clutch (see: Western conference finals). Great defender, perfect for matching up against all the great SG's in the league (ie. Kobe, Pierce, etc.).

SF - Dirk Nowitzki: tall 3 point threat. Is developing his game to the point that he can also start to beat defenders off the dribble. Instant offense....little weak on the D though...but he's got everybody else in the starting lineup to cover for him.

PF - Ben Wallace: 6'9, 240 pounds of intimidation and Defensive player of 2002 season. He'll grab rebound and block shots.

C - Tim Duncan: I was going to put Shaq diesel in here but then I was thinking about it. There's no question Shaq is the most dominating player in the L, but at times, I feel he provides too much distraction to his team, with his ego...how is he going to play when he's on a team with at least 2 other superstars (Payton and Dirk)? Plus, he's a little injury prone and of course, there's those damn free throws. So I pick Timmy D instead. Last season's MVP, solid fundamentals and doesn't have the attitude of Shaq. Not as dominant as Shaq but he's still in the top 5 players in the L. I think he'd play better with the team I picked anyways...Also, would you really want to take it to the lane against Ben Wallace and Tim Duncan?

                  Bench:

Bobby Jackson - backup SG, sparkplug, instant offense, super quick

Bo Outlaw - key role player on the teams that he plays for. Grabs rebounds like crazy and is a maaaad hustler

Jay Williams - ready to step in when GP leaves. plus, my team right now is a tad on the old side.

Drew Gooden - another rook to add youth to my squad. Has shown brilliance in the pre-season with rebounding and inside scoring. plus, Jerry West picked him so we know he's gonna be good. He won't mind (too much) sitting on the bench in his rookie year, just because he's a rook.

Kevin Willis - veteran post player. I hate him though, and I hear other teams do as well. He's one of those guys that always seems to get under other players' skin....perfect for my team.

Yao Ming - taking a chance here with another rookie....but he's 7'5 and can shoot the ball. Needs to get stronger though. We'll spend this year developing him off the bench.....

Desmond Mason - He can dunk like a maniac and his improved his shot over the last couple years. extremely athletic....

Robert Horry - this might be one too many players but is there any guy who is more clutch in the playoffs (besides MJ)?

                  so there you have it.
