I actually hope they don't. Thought this is a weak draft, I'd rather have the better pick then have the Heat destroy us in the first round. Nenad year 2 is what I'm looking forward to.Comment

Originally posted by EWRMETSBased on the job he did with the Celtics. The guy obviously wears down his teams fast, and probably needs a few years off. When he gets a little older, he'll mellow out, and become a solid NBA coach.
And this is the great coach you are talking about???
Based on the job he did in Boston, nobody should be calling him great. He had that one great year. Other than that, he was nothing to write home about. The guy couldn't even post a winning record in college, for God's sake.
And what does him taking off a few years and then coming back have to do with NOW?
As usual, your thinking is out of left field.Comment

Originally posted by DueceDigglaI always thought he was a good coach too because of the fight his Celt's would put up against the Nets. But, after thinking about it, maybe he isn't as good as I thought. I too wondered why the hell Dalembert wasn't on the court as much as possible, and he never got Walker to tone down his three point shooting attempts while he was there.
Only reason the Celtics put up a fight agaist the Nets is because they were chucking up three pointers all day. Any team doing that will be a pain in the butt.
And he has Korver as a starter, pumping up threes like a champ. Korver should be coming off the bench.
This how you know O'Brien is not a great coach. As soon as Ainge wanted to do his own thing when he became the GM of the Celtics and got rid of the guys that fit Obie's "philosophy", O'Brien quit!
King gets Chris Webber. LOL O'Brien doesn't know what the hell to do with him!!! BeantownBrawler was right. If O'Brien had Shaq, he would be shedding his minutes as well. A sign of a great coach or even just a good coach is knowing how to adapt to your players. He can't do it. He thinks his system, offensively and defensively, is such a great thing, he refuses to adapt.
He just got a pretty damn good post player. Any fool with a brain knows you play inside/out from that point on. Give Webber the ball and let him work it. He can then use his great passing skills and court vision to pass it back out to AI, Korver, Iguodala and whoever else. and get his shots as well. What does O'Brien do? He has Iverson dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble and chuck up shots while C-Webb is out of the post and shooting everything from outside.
With that said, who cares??? You guys are in the playoffs, and there aren't coaches out there who I think are that much better (please don't give me the Phil Jackson crap).
Who cares??? Talking to a Nets fan, I guess that is understandable, since losing and New Jersey Nets go hand-in-hand. But me, as a Sixers fan, care about winning. And with the talent this team has, it's not great, but it's good, the Sixers should have been running away with the division. Instead, they have a frigged up offensive scheme (if it wasn't for Iverson and Korver, there would be no offense at all) and a God-awful defensive scheme that gives up 100 points like it's nothing. And you say "who cares"? I don't want to be in the playoffs. They would get executed in the playoffs. And with how they play, Orlando and the Nets will take over their spot, anyway.
What about Mo Cheeks? His team wasn't good in Portland this year, yet at least he had them with the 8th best defense in the whole league. That's not bad at all. Give me that.
Who cares...LOL.Comment

Re: SAS: Sixers want O'Brien gone
The Nets would get killed by the Heat, but could make it very interesting against the Pistons if RJ comes back considering that RJ owns Tayshawn and the Nets last year choked away the series against the Pistons. The Webber trade wasn't even a good trade. He plays absolutely no defense because his legs are shot, and the Kings system fit him perfectly. It also doesn't help playing with a shoot first, shoot second, pass third point guard.Comment

So the guys traded for Webber made this team better defensively? Nope. Just as bad. When the defensive scheme is bad, everyone looks very bad on defense. Even Iguodala, who is a very good defender, looks out of sorts out there on defense.
Yes, the Kings system fit him perfectly but alot of other team's system would fit him perfectly if they had coaches that had a clue.Comment
