    John Weisbrod

THE worst GM in the league today.

After recent comments made by TMac on John-o... I've decided to go on my rant...

Here is the history of John Weisbrod...

    Good Things John Has Done:
1.) Draft Dwight Howard. He's almost as good as Emeka (if not better) and will be a star in the league. Good job John.
2.) Trade Draft Pick For Jameer Nelson. Proved he's not Mateen Cleaves or Khalid El-Amin. He's proven he can start at PG in the NBA. Good job, Weis.
3.) Sign Hedo Turkoglu. Possible Sixth Man of the Year. I dunno if he should deserve credit for this, because I'm sure he would've signed with Orlando no matter who the GM was.
4.) Firing Johnny Davis. The guy was an Uncle Tom Yes Man.

Good Things John Has Taken Undeserved Credit For:
1.) The Return of Grant Hill. TMac leaves. Grant Hill heals. Double U Tee Eff. The Magic would have had quite a combo with the two, and with the return of this All-Star, the Magic got better. John did nothing to do that.

2.) The Return of Pat Garrity. The Magic couldn't shoot last year. The Magic needed Pat Garrity. Now they have him. Thanks for being there at a good time, John.

3.) 1st Pick In The NBA Draft. Ok, we get Grant Hill, Pat Garrity, and the 1st pick in the NBA draft. That's pretty much a sign that you're going to do better than you did last year. Again, thanks for being around for this, John WideBroad.

And now, for the official list of crappiness...

The Bad Things John Weisbrod Has Done:
1.) Trade TMac, Reece Gaines, Tyronn Lue and Juwan Howard for Steve Francis, Kelvin Cato and Cuttino Mobley. With the players the Rockets received, they ended up trading Reece Gaines for Mike James and Tyronn Lue for Jon Barry. So instead of having TMac, Mike James, Jon Barry and Juwan Howard, we have Francis, Mobley and Kelvin Cato.
Steve Francis is the worst Team Point Guard in the league. Which is great, since we have Grant Hill yelling for the ball on the wing, and a beast in the post who gets the ball about 3 times a game from passes from Steve. He needs to kick some more camera men. I hate watching him play. BTW--John Weisbrod wanted Steve "as soon as I saw him try to fight Amare Stoudemire."
Then, we get Cuttino "Break The Offense" Mobley. He's like Steve Francis Jr. Nuff said there.
Kelvin Cato. I can't complain too much about him. He's solid, but nothing special.

2.) Trading Cuttino Mobley for Doug (and Jackie) Christie. Ok, I may have been harsh on Cuttino. He's a decent player/defender with a nice outside shot. Cutty Mobe's contract was up this summer. We could have re-signed him or used the money to buy a decent shooting guard who didn't have sex with Francis every night. Nope. Instead we get Doug. Doug has three years and a lot more money left on his contract. Doug is also injury prone. Doug also sucks, and is one of the most overrated defenders in the league. Doug started about 5 games for the Magic, and then went on the IR. Or maybe Jackie told him to go on the IR, because he needed to help around the house more. Who knows.

3.) Trading Drew Gooden and Anderson Varejao for Tony Battie. Drew Gooden is better than Tony Battie. Anderson Varejao is better than Tony Battie. Weisbrod logic = let's trade them both for Tony Battie, instead of just one of them. I understand he was trying to relieve some pressure off of Dwight Howard by not having him worry about a backup PF taking his spot... but give me a break. Varejao is one of the best hustle players in the league and Gooden is tearing it up in Cleveland. And somebody please tell me we could have gotten a better deal than this.

4.) Trading Keith Bogans for Brandon Hunter. Also known as giving away a very good player because Bogans commented on playing. The Magic are now in desperate need of a capable SG, and they don't have one, because tough guy Weisbrod didn't like Bogans' attitude.

5.) Blaming last season on TMac. TMac's a-hole comment was spot on. This guy is straight up sleaze. He attacked TMac's character, heart and leadership, leaving TMac in a daze of confusion and betrayal.

6.) Taking 60% of this season to fire Johnny Davis. Yes, you fired him, but it took too damn long, idiot.

    Final Result:
We're left with huge contracts, horrible team basketball, a very short bench, and mediocrity for the next 3-4 years, especially with the declining talent of Grant Hill and the horrible basketball played by Steve Francis. Weisbad picked this team based on how good they would be if they were a hockey team. They have horrendous chemistry on the court and the only bright spots for the future are Jameer and Dwight.

    Starters with Weisbrod (04-05):
Jameer Nelson, Steve Francis, Grant Hill, Dwight Howard, Kelvin Cato
Bench: Hedo Turkoglu, Pat Garrity, Deshawn Stevenson and Tony Battie

    Should be starters (04-05):
Jameer Nelson, Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill, Drew Gooden, Dwight Howard
Bench: Keith Bogans, Juwan Howard, Pat Garrity, Hedo Turkoglu, Deshawn Stevenson, Tyronn Lue (or Jon Barry), Anderson Varejao and Reece Gaines (or Mike James)

It's very trying being a Magic fan at these times... especially when the future could have been so much brighter...
We had the blueprint for a championship-caliber team... and John decided to draw hockey pucks all over it.

You really broke it down man, I totally co-sign this 100%

Wow.... That "what could have been" team is just sick. Think about it, all tmac asked for was help, every year. And every year Weis just put the team on his shoulders and said "carry us". Mac was like, "i cant do this all myself" but orlando management did nothng to help him and put all the blame of last season squarely on him. At least in Houston, the GM/managament is out making deals, they realize the star they have in mac (as well as yao) and instead of just saying "carry us" theyre trying to do as much for tmac as tmac is doing for the rockets, they are working together. They are building around tmac rather than putting everything on him. It just seems more profesional in Hou.

Also, to add to your rant, I read a quote from Johnny Davis basically saying that him and Weis had a deal that they would wait until the season was over and then decide on his future, and basically his job is secure. Only, Weis fired him w/ only 16 or so games left in the season. J.D. was like, "thats messed up, because when things were going well I couldve hounded him for a contract extension, but I didnt, because we had an understanding. But once things go bad, I'm gone. He didnt even give us a chance to see if I could take this group to the playoffs". Whether or not you like JD, that was really shady by weis, so even your "good thing that weis did" was done in a shady way.

Finally, Mac and Davis arent the only ones who are taking shots at weisbrod, on a radio show, JVG took shots at Weis

instead of blaming Coach Davis for what Weisbrod keeps calling "the bottom line in the league: wins-losses", JVG said that Weisbrod should have been more forthcoming and took the initiative to "fire himself"! He went on to elaborate on that, saying taht Weisbrod made two terrible trades that ******** his team and their ability to win: the two major trades they made this year that is (the T-Mac one, and the latter Mobely one).
It seems like everyone is sick of this guy, orlando fans and media as well.

Weisbrod just took over the GM position for the Magic last year, I think. John Gabriel was the GM before that. So it wasn't Weisbrod's fault that he couldn't get McGrady any help before last year. Though I do agree, he sounds like an a-hole.
