So now that the Lakers have a lottery pick who should they pick up...

I say draft either a Center/PF (Try and trade up to get Chris Taft or draft Frye or Villanueva, and then move Odom to his natural position as a SF) or a true PG (lDeron Williams would be perfect for them. Chuky Aktins sucks)

Well I think they need both a good defender at PF/C and a solid PG pretty badly. I would try to go after a PG first and hope that Paul/Deron Williams/Felton falls. I really like all three of those guys going to LA because there ability to run an offense(they're really not tweeners).

I would also try to unload either Odom or Butler for a later draft pick. You don't need both, especially with perhaps Peja coming in. With that later pick they could perhaps get Simien, Warrick, or Villaneuva.

A good young lineup for the Lakers next year would be:
    PG-Raymond Felton
    SG-Kobe Bryant
    SF-Caron Butler/Lamar Odom
    PF-Wayne Simien
    C-Vlade or Mihm

Still unlikely to make the playoffs but they should compete.

You can't just combine your favorite players from college and throw them on the Lakers.

I say they should get a PG, if possible.

It would be funny if the Lakers got the number 1 draft pick and picked Andrew Bogut.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

The first issue LA should work on is the inside. Their inside prescence is non existant.

Especially being in the west, no inside, no winning.

Sure they can become a perimeter team if they want to, but you know how that ends dont you Illinois fans?

If they want to have more success, they need more of a post prescence. PG can be dealt with. Sign and deal Chucky for Arroyo. He's a better playmaker, DET isnt happy with him, give it a shot. If Chucky isnt scoring, he's not happy. That's what they have.

In this, be realistic. LA will not get all of the best players from the draft all of a sudden. To think so makes it seem as if some people still havent either realized or accepted the reality of the teams situation.

Who's doing that? I'm just addressing a need. They NEED a PG to handle the ball and set up the offense instead of Kobe being both the instigator and beneficiary. And the PG's I listed fit that mold.

Plus they need to find a decent post player/defender. If that means getting rid of Odom or Butler than so be it.

It would be smarter to draft a big than give up a major piece to get one. On the other hand, the free agent market this year has some quality PG's...Jaric, Watson, Duhon...they could throw their MLE at one of these guys a get them.

You're addressing a need in fantasy land where the Lakers can draft and sign two lottery picks.

A)The Lakers dont have the cap room to sign two lottery picks.

B)The Lakers don't have the talent to trade for another lottery pick unless they move Kobe. No one wants Odom and his horrible Salary, and Caron Butler isn't as good as the lottery picks in this years draft, and this isnt even that great of a draft.

Face it Fakers fans, that team isn't going to be in the playoffs for a long, long time.

Nice reference to Illinois.. but to me IT still ended pretty well, regardless of the OUTCOME.

LA not even going to the finals.. much less the PLAYOFFS.

You honestly think Joe D is dumb enough to bring back the trash that is Chucky Atkins. Larry is not happy with Carlos because he holds the ball too long on pick and rolls and doesnt know how to run the offense yet but they are not going to trade him yet. His contract situation is perfect for Detroit. As for Atkins why would any team want a no defense playing chucker who is more cold than hot. On top of that he is 6'0. He has no upside.

i duno i kinda agree with going after a big, way more difficlt to acquire a big than a PG

but this draft is very deep PG wise..and not very deep big man wise...so maybe it would be better for lakers to draft a PG

wayne simien would be ok, but a little undersized 6'8''-6'9'' ish...255...but biggest thing is durability

villanueva = no....he's reincarnation of lamar and i dont think he's type of banger you need

what lakers should do is draft a PG (felton...jarret jack...NO DERON WILLIAMS he sucks on D he is TOO slow....atkins is way faster than him and STILL has problems on defense, deron only looks good on D cause his team is very very good at playing help/team defense, deron would get super owned by marbury and all the nba-PG's) and then trade either butler/odom or BOTH for a big or maybe big/pg if both are traded...

don't forget they also have 2 2nd round picks pick up some sleepers...(unlikely..given kupchak's draft history...)
