10 Reasons Why Live2003 is more fun for me than 2K3

I have tried both games pretty extensively and have found that I just have much more fun with EA's game than Sega's.
Here's why:

1-The right analog stick...it's great to use for crossovers, etc. not to mention for D...putting your arms up or geting in a crouch. You cant even put up your arms in 2k3.
2-The responsiveness of the player movements and the buttons....2k3 just feels sluggish and unresponsive in comparison. The "passing to the wrong player" problem is much more evident in 2K3. In fact...passing is 2K3's biggest problem overall.
3-The crowd seems more "intelligent" in Live...you really feel the crowd in this game! In 2K3, you hardly know that they are there.
4-The overall sound...EA's game definitely has more "ambience" and the sound quality has a lo to do with that. 2K3's sounds are too subltle.
5-The game speed.....true Live is a bit too fast, but 2K3 is still too slow...even on the faster speed. IF ONLY LIVE HAD A SPEED SLIDER!!! it would truly be the better game.
6-The "delay" when you try to block shots. It seems almost imposible to block shots in 2K3....you have to almost jump before the shotter does to have a shot at it.
7-The Camera's....I LOVE Live's high baseline camera. 2K3's
camera's don't get you close enough to the basket for some reason. As you drive to the hoop, it pulls back a bit.
8-The overall feeling of control...that you have with Live is great. I know this is mostly due to the freestyle moves, but you really are more immersed in your team due to this and this ups the "sim" factor in my book (even though Live is more
of an "arcade" game than 2K3)
9-The passing game....is so much better in Live...your passes are quick and crisp, not these slow lobs like you see in 2K3.
True you can use the icon passing, but adding more button presses slows you down.
10-The play calling....I like just being able to press one of the D-pad buttons instead on 2K3's 2 ste process....again, the less button presses, the better.

I know NBA2k3 play more like real basketball, but Live2003 just makes it more FUN while staying within the confines of the NBA rules. In the end...the game that gives me the most enjoyement with hands-on play gets my vote.

good points, i'm currently on the fence. I rented Live last week, and I bought 2K3 yesterday. Now i find myself wondering if maybe Live will be more fun, I think i will rent it again and i might have to take a trip back to EB to return 2K3. I agree with you, the slow lobby passes are my biggest gripe.

I agree, there shouldn't be a debate.

To each their own. I love the 2k series. I haven't played Live yet, but I hear good things. I will probably rent it at some point, but I am just having too much fun right now. 2k3 is just a great sim to play. The franchise mode is just awesome. There are some bugs, but I'm sure Live has some also. In any case, great bball games this year. Good competition. Game on!!

You must suck at blocking shots in NBA 2k3 if you're having trouble with it. I average around 6-7 blocks per game with the Wizards. Blocking shots are a LOT easier now than they were in NBA 2k2 (where I managed to get my teammates to block shots, sometimes 6 or 7 in a game, depending on my defensive layout such as getting my teammates closer to the basket to defend it better). I've even blocked shots from behind, and I've blocked quite a few dunks as well. Blocking shots has been vastly improved in NBA 2k3, IMHO. All of this on the default settings.

I have had no problems with lob passes in 2K3. I turn on the maximum passing (or whatever it's called!), and hold the button down for a quick or bounce pass, and tap it for a lob pass.

Even though I own Live after having returned 2K3 I simply cannot dismiss Sega's entry.
There are some things 2K3 just does better:
Franchise -add a multiplayer and/or the ability to WATCH other games your team isn't playing and there is no competition. Right now Live gets a slight nod because two or more people can participate. But the fact that I can hire and fire coaches s well as have players sign specifically for a legit chance at a title as opposed to just cause I had enough space is phenomenal.

Presentation -hands down the presentation and feeling is better in 2K3. Live is VERY generic but serves it's purpose. From the instant replays to the weekly wrap ups one just feels like they are in Sega's game. Ea was more concerned with getting music tracks....and although EA's announcers are better than last year Sega's just feels like the guys are actually watching the game even commenting on minute things like a hot player.

Graphics -hands down Sega's are better; GRAPHICALLY. Animation wise and game play wise (after some extensive tweaking) I enjoy Live more. 2K3 is good but I feel the motion is smoother in Live and the shooting animation is downright awesome.

All in all I wish there was some way to combine these two games. Playing both will corrupt both to me as I will constantly wish one had a particular option the other has so I weighed what was most important to me and made my decision based on that.

But I really wouldn't just dismiss one or the other-they're both good.

At first I was'nt gonna coment but I cant help myself.
I own both games and I have to say
the only thing he got correct is #1. the freestyle control.
Its a great addition to the game but that seems to be the only thing EA worked on this year.
2. The passing is good, but not great. sure if you like Rodger Clemens type speed in a pass. But in 2k3, after about five games the lob pass is'nt even an issue to me. In live sometimes The ball moves so fast I dont know who has it until I search for the CPU's icon.
3.Live has a better crowd just because they shout threeeeeeee and airball, but the responsiveness to momentum is in both games. they both get quiet when home team is losing and they both turn it up a few decibles when the team is on a run.
4.U just got that ambience crap from the back of the box.
Both games have decent atmospheres and 2k3 has more sound optionsin stands, on court, and tv presentation)
plus in 2k3 the sounds vary from arena to arena, in live you hear the same music and announcer every game.
Plus nobody wants to hear Brandy's Full Moon instrumental during the game.
5.The speed in live is only good on the superstar level and its still too fast. Yea 2k3 is slow but if u adjust the speed in under the game play sliders and swittch the game pace to fast under the game options u would be satisfied. I use the default level and i'm satisfied.
6.You want to talk about blocks. Everyone alredy knows the deal with Live and its blocks so i dont even have to say anything about that matter. U must suck if you cant get a block in 2k3. I average 7 a game.
7.U must have it mixed b/c in live u cant get close enough to the basket and you are forced to play with a baseline camera.
The press and sideline views are horrible. U zoom in to much you cant see the rest of the court, U zoom out to to far and your in the nosebleed seats. In 2k3 u can at lease adjust the hieght and the Field of Vision to your liking.
8.The control in Live is flawless so i'll give u that one.

Nuff said, I brought Live first and liked it but was curious about 2k3 so I copped it also. I have'nt played live since.

And you can take this post how you wanna, I 'm not fan boying but I was holding my breath for 2 hours when i saw that post and just had to add my dollar and nickel. Because if anybodys fan boying it the guy who started this thread.

Neither one of you are fan-boying, you both gave a list of reasons supporting why you prefer the game of your choice.

The real fan-boys try to turn someone's preference into a personal attack.

BTW I have 2K3 but I see a lot more 2K3 fanboys posting here than there are for Live. Not sure why. But my theory is that this year's Live turned out to be a pleasant surprise while 2K3 feels stiff and like more-of-the-same. But rather than acknowledging 2K3's flaws some feel compelled to attack those who prefer Live.

I believe he said 10 reasons why Live is more fun to him than 2K3. Not 10 reasons you should like Live over 2K3 because what I say is fact and you can't dispute it. I love Live, I'm having a ball with it, in fact I could hardly out it down last night. But what do I know, because I probably suck or don't know anything about real basketball. I long for the days of the Atari 2600 when you just had 2 stick figures running up and down the court, those were the days. The only thing that pissed me off about that game is you couldn't see the net move when the ball went through the hoop. Other than that, I really thought it was a great game. With that being said, Live is just fun, plain old simple, boring, run of the mill fun. That's all I ask from a game, just let it be fun and that's what it is.

Hell, if I'm a fan a fanboy for 2k3 well so be it. I wanna DEBATE damn it!
When I first came to this forum I was down with live to the fullest. TO-THE-FULLEST. Been down with EA since i was first introduced to Lakers v. Celtics. I never switched to any other sport game since until i start looking at this forum(which I'm hooked to by the way) and after reading numerous threads i said "what the hell' i'll give 2k3 a shot.
I mean I was in love with Live but i say every 1 out of three games that game just pissed me off. So much that I cheated on her. Brought 2k3 and said "where the hell have u been all my life".
So to make a long story short I seen the light. All of sudden i felt this hate and loathing for EA. and since the 1st amendment says i can i'm a exercise my freedom of speech, on this thread in particular. (unless they ban me)
but anyway, all I was doing was making a legitiment argument to HIS top 10 reason he thinks live is more fun.
And yes, He must suck at 2k3, I must suck to, I'm 6-6 in my franchise.
But what i think is that he did'nt give the game a chance,
Sh!t I never gave it a chance neither till this year.
And I gave Live enough chances(7 to be exact) and now I just hoped on 2k3's bandwagon. Hangin off it nuts if u will.

I dont care. If he did'nt want any responses like the first one I post, he would'nt have started this thread. He would of said, why i think live is fun or, 10 things i like about live, not why live is funner than 2k3 which is almost the same as saying Live is better than 2k3 because even though that was his first post he should of known 2k3 fanboys(like myself) were gonna have something to say.
