Official Watch Out for the Nets in the Playoffs Thread

Ok, here's the deal. NJ has been playing great recently. They have been sparked by the renewed play of Vince Carter and the resiliency of Jason Kidd.

Word on the street (ESPNEWS) is that they may be getting back another key part to their team. Richard Jefferson could possibly be cleared by doctors in the next few days to play, starting for the playoffs. RJ has been out since January 8th, but before his injury, he was averaging 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. He had been averaging 18 points in the 8 games he played with Carter.

I believe a three headed monster of VC/J-Kidd/RJ plus an improved Nenad Krstic downlow will be a formidable matchup for Miami, but an even better matchup for Detroit. If some how, NJ was able to sneak past Philly for the 7th spot in the East, I think they would have an excellent shot at dethroning the raining champs from Detroit.

RJ return is unlikely since he hasnt even practaced yet from what I heard. Next year they could be a real threat in the East with that threesome. I dont think they could beat Miami or Detroit this year.

It's nice to dream but the only chance that NJ has is if they play Miami and Shaq is injured the whole series. Both the Pistons and the Heat with Shaq will devour the Nets front court and all it will take is for Shaq or Ben to rough up Carter the 1st couple of times he gets near the paint and clog the lane and he'll stay on the perimeter the rest of the series, especially against the Pistons who will knock him down at every opportunity. Both teams know how to get him off his game. VC never impressed me in the playoffs with the Raps because of this very problem. He had 2 great games against the 76ers in the eastern semis because his 3 pointer was falling but underachieved every other game in the playoffs and was criticized by many for playing from the outside and a totally different style from the regular season. Regular season Vince and playoff Vince are 2 different things.

RJ is pretty much like a junior VC so you won't be getting any added toughness there. Jason Kidd will have to play like a madman to steal a couple of games. This team is not built for the playoffs

              Ok, BUMP*****

NJ is in as the 8th seed. They head south for what could possibly be a Shaq-less matchup with Miami on Sunday.
