Is the NBA back?
Seems like the new rules and the emergence of new powerhouse teams (Suns, Heat) have renewed interest in the league. Attendance is at an all time high (Link) and young Superstars like Bron, Wade, Mac, Kobe etc and foreign guys playing at a really high level (Yao, Dirk) seem primed to carry the league into another Golden Age.

Re: Is the NBA back?
Well its more spread out now. The West is still better, but with Lebron, Wade, Shaq etc... over in the East, its made the league more competitive. Also, the Lakers aren't the favs to in every year now that Shaq is gone. There are more then a handful of teams that can easily win the ring this year.Comment

When TNT carries most of your playoffs, you're struggling.
I remember when not every game was televised nationally, hell they used to have the FINALS on tape delay.
the NBA is fine.Comment

Newsflash EROD: TNT covered most of the playoffs under the previous TV deal during the Jordan era.Comment

Re: Is the NBA back?
I think it was a solid regular season, but the playoffs will tell the tale. You can say "new powerhouse teams (Suns, Heat)", but they need hit a Conference Final to mean anything. Regular season is fine and all, but powerhouses are built in the playoffs.

Re: Is the NBA back?
Anybody who says the NBA is back obviously isn't old enough or didn't watch the NBA in the late 80's/early-mid 90's.
But of course you could argue it's purely subjective.
The NBA was exciting this season but still nowhere near the years I mentioned above.
The Jordan, Magic, and Bird years were vastly better.
One thing I hate about the currrent NBA is the mega-rap influence that permeates the league.Comment
