Things I hate about both games(LIVE and 2K3)

First of all, i just want to say that like and enjoy both games.
I just play Live when freinds are over and 2K3 when I'm solo.
Now before u start cursing me out, keep in mind that these are my opinions.
first lets start with Live 2003.
I like this game, i really do but its to fast for my liking, everytime i play a game solo, I get pissed by halftime b/c of the score, the shot %'s and that F@#king cut scene.
Its just not my style, i'm a slow down player, I like to walk up the court most the time, and they took that button away from me. Its hard to do with the anologe stick.

    Anyway, enough of that:
1: I hate when the CPU is posting u up and when he'll get to a certain spot, he'll just take off, knee and kick everybody and dunk over your C and Pf like he Big 10 or something. WTF.
2.I hate knowing that the CPU is gonna shoot a three b/c you know, no matter who is sticking him, double or not, he's gonna drain it on u. I ussally right 80% of the time with it and thats a shame.
    3. I hate tryna set a pick and te CPU runs right pass it like he was never there setting it.
    4. I hate swatting the ball with my PG off a 7' center just cause I timed the jump right.
    5. I hate spinning out of bounds. Most of the time u can control your self. But if you are jerking your stick to much(lol)
you never know where the hell your going. And + I hate spinning into a defender and he just stands there making u spin in place.
    6.I hate the cut-scenes
    7. I hate looking at the CPU's shot chart after the game and seeing all of those green O's in the paint. Do they ever really shoot jump shots? Not often.
8.I hate when they play Brandy's Full Moon Instrumental during the game. Cut that Sh!t off!!!!
9.And last but not least, I hate playing against T-Mac in this game, its just not fair the way he treats u. CPU or Human.

Now on to 2K3. I like this solo game.I tried playing against my friend and it was just sad. He shot 29%, shot 49% and wizzazupped his ***. No more Details, just know that i crushed him and he did'nt like it. The AI for the CPU is a little slow in this game but nothin a few slider adjustments could help.

1.I hate getting stuck on your defender and he wont let u move like he holding u or something. Can we say foul?
    2. i hate it when the CPU passes the ball to the man standing clearly out of bounds. (Get your head in the game!!!)
3.I hate the way u shoot free throws in this game. Its just so stupid. Double Dribble's free throw shooting was better.
4.I hate posting up with a weak PF or C because the defender does'nt budge. Move B!tch, Get Out the Way!!!!!!!
5.I hate when the CPu knocks the ball out your hand and u turn around looking stupid.( Which way did he go, Which way did he go.)
6.I hate the net animation. If u look at the replay, you see about 400 frames of net movement but it still looks like one of your nerf sucktion cup nets.
7.I hate dunkin and laying up on a 9 ft rim.
    8. I hate to call a pick, and the guy sets it about 10 fee away.
(Get yo *** over here, ya big Dummy!)
9.Finally, I hate when the CPU pg and C play monkey in the middle with your PG.

Thats all i can think of, but beside s all those nusances, both games are still enjoyable. And remember, every thing I said here is MY opinion, please dont hurt me.

Good sh!t Graphik. One tip: On 3's (Live), just put your hands up and run into the shooter (even after the shot is realeased). Don't try to block it. Yes, you may block some, but most of the time the ball's going out of bounds and you're not going to get it back anyway. Also, you're more prone to foul the shooter that way. You're better off aggressively challenging the shot. You'll hardly ever get called for the foul, and, trust me, they'll start missing most of those 3's...just remember...fundamentals!!!

Re: Things I hate about both games(LIVE and 2K3)

I agree, the hands up routine works but I always noticed(in all NBA lives) is that if the CPU wants to win, they will win and there is'nt a damn thing u can do about. They will jack threes in your face, make u throw the ball out of bounds, get easy steals and there is nothing, I repeat nothing u can do.
You try to match points with em and 1 mstake, I mean just 1 mistake will turn a 2 point lead into a 10 point lead in matter of mintes. This is another 1 of my turn-offs about live. When u lose, 8 times out of 10 you will feel like they cheated somehow.
1 game i played against the Bulls, and these bastards shot 15 for 16 in the 4th quarter. I gave it my all, tried to match every shot they hit but fell short.
i tell u, after the game, I felt violated. no way in hell could the bulls have such a great 4th quater.
I live in Chicago, and I know that the Bulls are not a 4th quarter team.
But this problem is in every live since 95. Always the same thing, u find your self throwing the playbook out the window and trying to outscore the computer.

simple solution to that "cheating" problem in LIVE...i too had the problem i would be winning in the 4th by 10 pts with 1:30 left...then they hit 5 3's in a row..i throw the ball out of bounds everythng is a foul and i end up LOSING!! WTF!!!!!! BUT.......i found that if you turn the CPU assistace to "off"..you will find that if you are beating a teams *** u will end up beating their *** the whole game unless u start to get slopy yourself...try it

I hate in 2k3 when I go to pass the ball to my teammate who is two feet next to me, and the ball goes 5 thousand feet in the air all the way to the roof.

The camera follows the ball to the ceiling and all the way down again to my guy catching it out of bounds and causing a turnover.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Diggla, I have had that happen to me. Not very often, but it did happen to me twice. I think this was an occasional issue in last years game also.

yea that happened to me once, I saw the CPU do it, I was like WTF is going on. 1 minute he passes, next your staring at the arena cieling for about 10 seconds and when it came down he got a shot clock violation.

It happens to me maybe once every game or two.

It's such an obvious glitch that the designers had to of noticed this before the game was released.

I suppose I'm officially just "getting old" here but wasn't there a time when players were BEGGING for a challenge from the CPU? I mean does anyone here remember the days of beating NBA Showdown by 72 points? How about Live 97 140 points? (I've done it..)

I don't understand it...; Live kicks the shyt out of me sometimes and I love it! I WANT the computer to put it on me because that's why I play-competition. If the cpu never hit a challenged shot, didn't run through some picks (pretty rare and depending on your settings hardly ever happens) block your bad shots and force you to pay attention to EVERY pass you make you'd blow it out every game then we'd complain about that. Not to mention almost everything said can be altered in some shape or another:

'I hate when the CPU is posting u up and when he'll get to a certain spot, he'll just take off, knee and kick everybody and dunk over your C and Pf like he Big 10 or something'
Take a charge once or twice and the cpu will stop. Also use a double team... this is basic defense and is vitally necessary or it will become Live 97 where the center stands there until you successfully steal the ball. It makes you play basketball.

'I hate knowing that the CPU is gonna shoot a three b/c you know, no matter who is sticking him, double or not, he's gonna drain it on u. I ussally right 80% of the time with it and thats a shame'
Again this is basic defense. If the cpu didn't shoot the three you'd bur it every game. I LOVE the fact that I REALLY have to watch the perimeter lest I get killed from outside..
Set your guard's defensive pressure to high and put a good defender on him. THAT'S how the game SHOULD be played..

                        'I hate tryna set a pick and te CPU runs right pass it like he was never there setting it';
Then re-set the pick again or kick to another shooter. This is how it happens in real life...I LOVE this...

';I hate swatting the ball with my PG off a 7' center just cause I timed the jump right'
Lower your guard';s blocks to 50 and you'll never have that problem again.

'I hate spinning out of bounds'
Then don't spin. Bring the ball up with a controlled pace and run the play. When's the last time you say Jason Kidd spinning up and down the floor?

                        'I hate the cut-scenes'
Turn them down then skip the few that remain. This is never really a problem unless you are watching a game...it takes a millisecond.

'I hate looking at the CPU's shot chart after the game and seeing all of those green O's in the paint. Do they ever really shoot jump shots? Not often'
If Shaq is killing someone in the paint have you ever seen Phil call a TO and tell him to shoot more from outside? No. And neither will the CPU. It will go to the well until it's dry. Again that's how the game should be played. When I play the CPU takes lots of outside shots until I start coming out then it feeds the post. Lower your difficulty to rookie and the cpu won't do this.

'I hate when they play Brandy's Full Moon Instrumental during the game. Cut that Sh!t off!!!!'
Dude, just adjust the in game music then... I am an old school hip-hop fan (Kane, Biz Mark, Ultra Magnetic MCs, Audio Two). I hate all this Puff Daddy/J-Z/Lil Kim garbage on the air nowadays so NONE of this music is appealing to me. I just turn it off and listen to my stereo when I';m doing my adjustments. "We ballin boy..."what the hell was EA thinking. Give me the tracks from Live 01...

'And last but not least, I hate playing against T-Mac in this game, its just not fair the way he treats u. CPU or Human'
I really don't understand this one but again this can be resolved by playing on rookie level.

With some adjustments this game plays the most realistic basketball game to date IMO.
The CPU adjusts to your tendencies to the point where you get nervous about making a pass and if you go up a few points they come at you with a ferocious run that makes you PLAY BASKETBALL.

Sorry if I come off as belligerent and I meant no disrespect but again you're talking to someone who was tired of having to spot the cpu 20 points every game just to get a challenge on the superstar level every year. I personally got a 15-point lead the first game of my franchise against the Rockets. Then I got sloppy around the third figuring I cruse the rest of the game and get the W. I lost by twenty. All of a sudden I couldn't complete a pass, I got swatted every time I just could do NOTHING. Greatest game I've played against the cpu in a long time. Next game I knew better so I kept pouring it on and guess what: I STILL lost but only by 4. That says to me I'm going to have one hell of a season.

I hear what u saying, but you gotta admit that theCPU cheats its *** off if they wanna win. All of those problems I listed are very minor, I hate them but it does'nt ruin gameplay.
I dont like to win everygame like back in the days of the Genesis and Super NES Lives. I just dont like when the computer forces u to lose.
Live Is is a challenging game most the time, but once out about five games, the computer robs you of a victory b/c you start missing layups/dunks, your men get icecold from the perimeter, you throw 2 or three passes out of bounds, these magical houdini steals start happening, these touch fouls happen frequently, Chris Childs puts Gary Payton D on u, and the computer scores at will. And I dont care what u say but those damn threes they shoot will go in regardless of what u do.
All of this happens late in the game which makes you start to bang the controller on your head.
And every teams shot chart looks the same. they dont shoot enough jumpers for my liking, the majority of points come from the paint and the three point stripe. Every Game, Every Team.
Dont get me wrong b/c the challenge in live is great, but its just those games that come out of nowhere that gets on my nerve.
Have u ever played in the playoffs without quitting 1 game?
I'm not a quitter who turns the game off when I'm getting my *** handed to me. I always recognize those games when they happpen and I dont stand for it, because u know u gone lose regardless.
All I'm tryna say is that i dont call tose games a challenge, I call it cheating.

                            My brief beefs:

                            NBA Live 2003

                            1. Not enough sliders. Maybe I'm missing them, but I see no sliders to adjust field-goal percentages of human and CPU teams. I think the CPU players are too accurate at the higher skill levels, even when you have hands in their faces.

                            2. Game speed is too fast.

                            3. Free-throw interface sucks. Crosshairs move way too fast at higher skill levels. Maybe my reflexes are gone at age 37.

                            NBA 2K3

                            1. Free-throw interface still sucks. It's damn near impossible to align the arrows at upper skill levels unless the player shoots 80 percent or better from the line in real life.

                            2. Not enough fouls called at default level. Thank God for sliders.

                            3. Not enough crossing movement or help defense in the lane. One of my biggest beefs with NBA 2K1 on the DC and NBA 2K2 for the PS2 was that CPU players often cleared out the lane, parting the Red Sea so the point guard could go one-on-one against the defender. And if the PG beat the defender, the CPU defenders hardly ever help out. That's still evident too often in NBA 2K3.

Both games are very good, though. I think this virtual NBA season is a lot like the NFL season -- gamers are the winners. We have two very strong options and hopefully a third coming with NCAA College Basketball 2K3.

                            Take care,
                            PK

I've officially decided, NBA Live 2003 is AWESOME. I'm returning 2K3 for it in about an hour (i'm at school now). Most of your beefs can be resolved quite easily, like the guy a few posts above me pointed out.

P.S I actually really like the music in the game, especially the fat Joe song.
