Re: Phil trying to manipulate the Lakers
No I didnt say you slim. I know lots of people didnt fall into Buss' hype. But there were tons of fans who did, and D4K knows it, because alot of them did it on this board alone. There is no need to generalize. He knows it which is why I addressed him on itComment

The ones who lambasted the triangle?
How about the ones who agreed it was a business decision to let him go in the first place.. those fans?
Don't take it hard Laker fans (Slim, Shakobe, fobby, etc.), but a vast number of "Laker fans" flip flop more than John Carey.Last edited by Dynasty4Kobe; 05-04-2005, 10:58 PM.Comment

I dont know about all of the name calling, but I can respect a group of guys like that who can actually support the team for what it is, and know what it needs to improve.Comment

Originally posted by jmood88But what have they gotten that they can put stock in in the future? Caron Butler can be good but odom and brian grant are entering or are in the downsides of their careers.
As for Grant, damn!!! Talk about a huge downside to his career. Well, at least he's getting paid for his 3.8 pts and 3.7 boards a year. Can you imagine that?!?!? He got paid $13+ mil this year for those sorry *** numbers!!! THAT'S NOT RIGHT!!!! Ok, I'm getting too worked up. His contract has got to be one of the most ******** things EVER!!! AND, he's got 2 years and $30 mil left!!I don't blame the guy for getting paid. I barely blame the guy for having crappy numbers, I mean he is 33 with bad knees. I blame the idiots who gave him that contract. 7-years!!! $86 mil?!?! But then again, Riley has always given out a lot of money. PJ Brown - 6yr, $36 mil. Eddie Jones - 7yr, $93 mil. LO - 6yr, $65 mil. And I blame the Lakers for taking such a dumb contract on.
Ok, but anyways, back on topic. I never had a problem with Phil. In fact, I still think he's one of the greatest coaches ever. I was sad when he left. Not so much about Shaq, but Phil, ya. So, if he does come back, I say great. If not, I'm sure we'll still find a way to compete, and a coach that can put up with Kobe's attitude.Comment

I am loyal Laker fan and I agreed 100% with the decision to let him go last year. He got thoroughly outcached by Larry Brown in the Finals and was too stubborn to adjust from the Triangle when Brown had the Triangle figured out. His relationship with Kobe was horrible and since it was decided that the Lakers were going to keep Kobe, that meant Phil had to leave. Third, Rudy T. was out there and at the time appeared to be a damn good replacement for Phil.
With that said, if he comes back and Kobe and him can bury the hatchet then I dont have a problem with it. He's the best coach available so I have no problem bringing him back but he's crazy if he thinks Buss is gonna give him an ownership interest.Comment

Re: Phil trying to manipulate the Lakers
Originally posted by ShaKobeI don't think Odom is entering or even close to the downside of his career. He is actually 1 year younger than Kobe. He is 25 right now, and I think that he hasn't even started to peak yet. He'll probably have 2-3 more improving years, then peak for another 3-5 years, and then he'll start to go down.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I dont remember seeing you posting on here blasting Phil to high heaven, and claiming like it was a conspiracy that he was holding Kobe's game back, that its time to scrap the triangle for good, etc...
there were some however that were, and are now eating crow made hot for them, although they refuse to admit it. It was mostly KOF's but you get the picture.
If they can bury the hatchet, noone should have a problem with it, but its still a case of I told you so in the first place, and it also confirms Buss lied through his teeth in which lots of Lakers fans sucked it up as the ultimate truth.Comment
