Earlier this year, Kendrick Perkins tipped in a basket after a missed free throw for some team the Celtics were playing. It is points for the opposing team. The ball goes through their basket, it's their points.

closest person on that team gets credit for the points too. the points have to account towards someone.

I think I saw that, that was pretty goofy IMO. Ah well at least they have rules for those unlikely events.

I have a Bloopers tape at home somewhere (I think it came from my Sports Illustrated subscription) and the ball went in the net off a defensive players head.

what if some guy went for a rebound, jumped too high and accidentally dunked it in for the other team?

That would be hard to believe but if it did it would be 2 points for the other team and be awarded to the guy who shot the ball.
