    2006-2007 Official NY Knicks Thread

C'mon Knick fans. I know the past couple of years have been suspect, but it's the offseason. New coach, new blood, new year (No, that's not the official Knick slogan). Let's try to get out of this great depression and look for any positives heading into this season. Hey, things can only go up. Let's go Knicks!

I feel bad for the Knicks Fans. They had an absolutely terrible draft...

We heard that last year too. Everybody called Frye soft and a sure bust and he was anything but. If Larry actually gave Lee or really any of the young players consistent playing time we would have been much better off. And that will be one of the major differences this year.

I'm not saying Balkman or Collins are going to be stars or anything but when you draft in the twenties your not looking for stars just guys who can contribute and both guys bring defense to a team that was desperate for defense.

I don't remember a lot of bashing last years draft. Sure, there are always questions about the players, but most people thought we did a good job.

The only positive to this season is we only have 82 games left of Isiah Thomas.

Last year wasnt bad at all. The thing is...Frye, Lee, and Nate Robinson werent predicted to go in late 2nd or undrafted. Balkman was. And the knicks dont need ANOTHER guard...Mardy Collins...

The Knicks need perimeter defenders. That and rebounding are their weakest points.

I liked what I saw from Mardy Collins before we even drafted him. Liked his size and how he defended in the little that I saw of him. Opposing Guards killed us last year. So after being initially pissed off, I'm no longer mad at the draft even though Balkman was a major reach.

The thing is, neither Balkman nor Collins need to start. They need to come off the bench and board and defend. If they're the only 2 players with a set of balls on the team, I'd be glad.

Who was the last Knick to body someone up, give a hard foul, dive into the stands for a loose ball? Oak. I'm hoping Balkman can give that kind of energy and desire.

If Thomas can light a fire under Eddy Curry, we'll be alright. Still lottery bound, but alright.

I've heard Isiah say numerous times already that in Indiana he helped develop Jermaine O'Neal and Brad Miller and he plans to do the same with Curry. To me Curry is the key to the season.

So how bad are the Knicks going to be this year? Because I think us Bull fans are looking for another top 5 pick so we could get another big man of the future...Im wishful think for the #1-2-3 picks so we can get either Oden, Durant, or Noah, but i dont think you guys are THAT bad. Can you guys atleast get us a top 10 pick! GO BULLS!!!

PS: Have fun with a high 20 draft pick!

Honestly, I think Isaiah is a pretty decent coach on the real. A lot of people might feel him off his rocker only because he sucks at the big business jobs. He can't run the businesses. I can definitely say that when Brad Miller and J.O. went to Indiana, they were both seen as better players. Eddy has the potential. I'll even give it to him for the draft picks he made because both are some pretty decent players. He has such a loaded squad. They're like the Mavericks of the East, except they're structured different and have a totally new coach. Well, maybe not the Mavs of the East, but they're a sleeper team.

Whenever you have Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury on the same team, there's no way in hell they'll stay slumped. I don't care how much of a cancer they are, they're down to their last strings. Their contracts will start winding down and they'll start learning. One thing that I'm very anxious to see is how well Isaiah does. Seems like the team just needs that coach that they could relate to and vice versa. Isaiah is from Chicago so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt in reaching those kids. Man I hope they start returning to their glory days. The East needs a freaking good rivalry.
