    2009-2010 Orlando Magic

My predictions for keepers from our summer league:

    Ryan Anderson (obviously)
    Richard Hendrix
    Darian Townes
    maybe Kasib Powell

I like Hendrix's game, similar to a Paul Milsapp. Just a huge dude who bangs down low, would be a very nice bench player. Anderson I can see winning us some ballgames with his outside shooting and high BBall IQ.

How does Anderson play? I have no clue.

And when I think of how he might play, I think of Pat Garrity...lol

      haha
Any tall white guy who can shoot and is a tweener, especially on the Magic, will always be compared to Garrity by our fans.

From what I've seen (which is not a whole lot) Anderson is more complete. He can put the ball on the floor a little, pass, rebound, score in the post and is somewhat athletic. Similarities to Garrity is his height, weight, position and he has a set jumper.

The two or three summer league games I watched, he seemed to understand the game much better than the non-NBA guys around him. He plays passing lanes well, gets good position on rebounds, doesn't force a lot of shots, and is patient with the ball on offense. I don't expect the guy to drop 15 a game for us, but I do expect him to be an efficient offensive player and an above average defender. He led the Pac-10 in scoring his sophomore year (21.1 ppg, 9.9 rpg), ahead of guys like OJ Mayo, Kevin Love, Jarred Bayless and the Lopez twins, so his ability to put up points is definitely there as well.

      Him in HS:

I'm excited about this kid. Between his success in college and him playing a significant role for the Nets last year (30 games started), I hope he sticks with the Magic for a while.

Rumors are the Magic are going after Raymond Felton. JJ, Anthony Johnson and Fran Vazquez or a 1st Rounder for Felton.

Supposedly the Bobcats and Felton aren't agreeing on a deal and are trying to move him. I thought they liked him over there in Charlotte, at least a little more than three trash players.

I really hope you're not referring to J.J. as a trash player.

I don't see this happening anymore, I'd love if it did but imo that would be a slap in the face to Jameer. Not to mention the main reason that Rafer was included in the deal for VC was because of the controversy in team chemistry that occured during the NBA Finals run when Nelson returned to the line-up. If they added Felton, I don't believe Felton would take the role of the #2 PG after being a starter and especially now that Jason Williams has signed on and expects to be the #2 option at PG(sorry A. Johnson).

I like the line-up we have now. I heard that the Magic have added Morris Almond and I believe Linton Johnson to their Training Camp roster, not sure if they will make it to the opening day roster but who knows. I really like Ryan Andersen, I got to watch him play in a couple of Summer League games at the RDV Sportsplex and I can say he is 100x better than Garrity ever was(he can actually play defense!). I'm finally warming up to the VC trade that sent C. Lee to NJ, Ryan Andersen actually had better rookie stats then C. Lee did and played less minutes...so I guess we'll see.

That Felton rumor is old and dead at this point. With us signing JWill, I doubt we make any more moves for PGs.

If we get Morris Almond in summer camp, I really hope he makes the team. I'm a big fan of that guy and hope he gets a fair shot in Orlando. I feel like he got shut out by Sloan in Utah and never really had the chance to prove himself. Tall, athletic, good scorer, would be a great backup backup.

I feel like we have our rotation of 10 already set and anyone else playing after that is just a bonus. If we start Bass at PF and Shard at SF, then we have Barnes, AJ, Pietrus, Gortat and Anderson coming off the bench. Not a whole lot of playing time available for those borderline players, but more depth is always good.

Rocky start for the Magic... can't wait until Shard comes back. We're hurting at the PF now, Bass isn't a starter and we really have no one coming behind him off the bench.
