The Knicks played hard last night. They pulled w/in a very close margin and made it into a crunchtime game.

Why are yall complaining about effort?

And they do play defense, just not very good team defense. Plus your small. Hibbert had a field day against Jefferies.

Disagree.

They were down 15 at one point and then decided to start playing hard when it started to matter.

If they played hard throughout the entire game, they wouldn't have found themselves in that position against a team that is barely scratching to survive in the East.

And every team plays defense. You're talking semantics now. Obviously by saying they don't play defense we mean they don't play good defense. They are horrible. They lack effort. It's not even about the points, but the number of open shots they give up. They are the worst team in OPP FG%. That's inexcusable.

I dont see 117 points as lacking effort. The Pacers simply have their number. Any supreme amount of effort wouldnt have worked. Its simply a matchup issue.

I don't agree.

Hansborough had a career night. Hibbert beasted late in the 4th.

This isn't like the Cavs game where they didn't try. They just got beat by a game winner. Melo made a nice move but unfortunately it left time on the clock.

Same thing happened in the Celtics game when Pierce beat them.

As Bat said, the Knicks were down big at one point. I'm more shocked they actually came back given the effort to be honest with you.

Maybe if we had someone tall who could defend and knows the offense well... oh wait.

Knicks almost always make a comeback. They almost always play defense in spurts, whether it's early in the game to jump out to a big lead, or late to lead a comeback. It needs to happen all game. Unfortunately, they got a coach who isn't going to hold anyone accountable, and the 2 stars/leaders are both guys who only defend when they feel like it.

The Knicks have two premiere scorers and 3-pt shooters. Offense isn't going to be a problem for them. They score points without trying.

The issue is defense. They scored 117 but gave up 119. And that 119 isn't anomaly. It's way too frequent that they give up too many points. A little effort on defense would resolve that.


There are a lot of small teams in the league. The Knicks aren't the only ones without a legit big man that can get the job done inside. The Celtics don't exactly have an enforcer in the middle. They aren't necessarily quick. But they try. They run defensive schemes. I'm not saying it's easy, but the easiest thing is at least trying.

Even after the trade I wasn't expecting to much out of the team, because we do not have a true center. When you play against the elite teams in the league that have a couple of 7" footers to throw at you, that's going to cause matchup problems and put the smaller team in foul trouble forcing a small team to go even smaller than what they already are.

I do agree that a team should not give up on defense, and the Knicks are no exception, but you do have to admit they are put at a disadvantage, not only because their size, but also the quality of players they have.

119 points is atrocious any which way you want to slice it.
Of course it's a concern and always should be when Tyler Hansbrough averages 29.5 Points against you when you had 2 days to make adjustments.

Hibbert was eating Amare's lunch. Did D'Antoni do anything to adjust? No.

My issue is that if the Knicks make the playoffs...they'll go in with these same horrible tendencies of just trying to outscore the opponent.

That's just not gonna fly.

I actually don't even want to watch Knicks games with the way they have played.

Double team, get the ball out of Hibberts hands. Make them beat you with jump shots. The Knicks weakness(huge) is interior defense. Mask it by double teaming the post player. Switch to a zone. work on your defensive rotations. try a defensive lineup. demand more defensive effort. Get your team ****ing focused man.

Yeah...I've cooled off alot on wanting that "all-world" PG. Chauncey has shown me what true leadership is.

I hope the Knicks spend "smart money" this offseason on a defensive Center.

That'll make me estatic.

I've been day dreaming about Tyson Chandler for weeks now! One thing that has been frustrating to hear from the media and fans is how the Knicks are 6-6 or whatever it is since Carmelo got traded. I'm also sick of hearing how the Knicks don't play D. The Knicks lost so much depth with the trade and I pretty much expected them to be where they are at. The Knicks didn't play D before Melo got here. Why is everyone acting like the poor D is such a surprise??? I'm not expecting much for another 2 seasons when Donnie (hopefully) can sign another star and add the depth that is needed to make a run for the championship.
