I think we will see more steady output from Roy as the season goes on because Vogel will let Roy play thru mistakes where as O'Brien wasn't. Although Toronto is weak and Bargiana is a wuss I think had more to do with Roy's success tonight than anything. George has a lot of talent and I look forward to watching him develop his game.

I truly don't understand why we can't sustain leads. We had a 20 point lead and blew it within 5 minutes. That lead was down to 6 just 5 minutes later.Indianapolis Colts

Its called runs. And young teams dont no how to keep their boot on an opponents neck.Comment

Re: Official Indiana Pacers Thread
That was more of a rhetorical statement. I know why, it's just annoying seeing big leads fall, not being able to close out games, etc. This team has a lot of potential and they've shown they can play with and even beat the best of teams.Indianapolis Colts

I will say Toronto drafting Ed Davis looks to be a good move he has been playing very well. I remember some mock drafts last year had the Pacers drafting him but I think we did pretty good with George.Comment

Re: Official Indiana Pacers Thread
I have such a different excitement for this team now that O'Brien has been relieved of his duties that it's almost indescribable.
I didn't get to watch the game last night, but was able to listen to the broadcast. I'm not exactly for sure what happened to blow the 20-point lead they had built, but from the sounds of the announcers it seemed like the guys, especially the younger players, were at a much more relaxed mindset playing this game with coach Vogel at the helm.
I think these guys had gotten beat down so bad mentally by O'Brien that they were afraid to make a mistaken and basically stopped having fun playing the game they've played all their lives. Not for sure where it will take us the rest of the season, but I'm one that believes this is a very welcomed (yet overdue) move by the franchise for the excitement of the organization, the team and the fans.A negative mind will never give you a positive life.

Vogel is undefeated as head coach. Albeit against Toronto and Cleveland, but hey, he's undefeated!

Re: Official Indiana Pacers Thread
I feel the same way, but then I do reference my earlier post where I posted some (imo) realistic expectations for our west coast trip, and we all saw how that played out. Under O'Brien we were getting beat by horrible teams, at least the last 2 games we beat teams we should beat.
Lets see how this plays out though.
One thing I am noticing is that everything is a microcosm of itself. Like most of our games have us jumping out ahead in the first quarter, playing even through 2nd and into the 3rd, and then in the 3rd we get destroyed into the 4th and lose the game.
Our seasons have gone the same way. We jump out quick and have a lot of fire, we then fade and play .500 ball, until finally we start getting destroyed on 8-9 game losing streaks.
Hopefully the coach thing isnt just a reset button where we are going to win 8 of 10, then in march lose 5 of 10, and then finish the season with a nice 6-7 game losing streak.Comment

Our schedule for the rest of the month: vs POR, @ NJ, @ MIA, vs CHA, vs MIN, @ MIL, vs MIA, @ DET, @ WAS, vs DET, vs UTAH, vs PHX.
Let's just pencil in the two Miami games as losses. Portland is very beatable, especially at home. If we can split with Utah and Phoenix, that'd be nice. Every other game we should win. Even if we lose to Miami twice, lose to Portland, lose to Utah AND Phoenix, but beat the rest of those teams that'd be 7-5. We COULD go 8-4 in that stretch or better.
That said, beating every team you should beat is a huge stretch with us and I'm not counting on it until I see it.Indianapolis Colts

Re: Official Indiana Pacers Thread
Couldn't agree more. It sounds a little hard to believe, but it's true...The Indiana Pacers have officially had their first three game winning streak of the season!
I mentioned earlier that I thought JOB had beaten this guys down so much mentally, and it's starting to show a bit that positive reinforcement isn't such a bad thing. Just like it's been all season the Pacers had an opportunity to let each of the last three games slip away, but somehow (a new coach that actually has a little faith in his players -- or at least pretends he does) they've pushed through and actually finished strong in these games. Not saying that they're poised for a playoff run but this team looks like night and day under Vogel.Last edited by 65South; 02-05-2011, 12:34 PM.A negative mind will never give you a positive life.

Re: Official Indiana Pacers Thread
1st 3 games win streak of the season and last nights win was by far the best out of the 3 games. Players seem to have more confidence and just a whole different outlook when there playing. Granger is not jacking up 3's everytime he touches the ball and is driving to the basket. Vogel's going to make some mistakes its only natural like last night gambling by leaving Hibbert in befroe half with 2 fouls. I like how Vogel is using the pick n roll and i also like what he is doing with the rotation.Comment

Re: Official Indiana Pacers Thread
Yesterday was a game we would've lost under O'Brien. Coming off a 3 game win streak and a good win over a Playoff caliber team. We follow it up with a team we should beat 5 times out of 5 in the Nets. That's a classic O'Brien loss. Glad we won it. And we are officially back in the Playoffs. 8th seed right now and a full game over Charlotte.
If we can beat Miami this time, that'd be pretty special. We beat them last time at their place, but it was in that span when they weren't playing well. Expecting a loss, but if we can at least keep it competitive and a 4 quarter game I'd take it. Don't wanna see us get blown out though.Indianapolis Colts

Re: Official Indiana Pacers Thread
I haven't gotten a chance to watch the team much with Vogel as the coach but, what little I have watched of the Pacers have been enjoyable to watch. The team seems to be responding well to Vogel and it's nice to see a more common sense approach to the substitution rotations. The playoffs are still a very possible goal for this team.Comment
