Felton didn't run the pick and roll enough I think was our complaint. He had a lot of high assists nights finding Stoudemire inside off it.

I've noticed with Felton gone, STAT is finding himself outside a lot more or being a back-to-basket offensive player which he is not.

He needs to move around. I'm not sure why having Melo would keep STAT from running unless it's because the team is being taught to stand away from the paint when Melo isos.

Even if Douglas is incapable of running the play, Melo should be looking forward to running it himself with Stoudemire.

Just really confusing to watch this team not take advantage of their strengths.

This Melo with the ball in his hands thing is not working because the team seems to always be in a hole.

If you're up and he has the ball in his hands...he'll move it. If you're down...he's going to shoot it.

And Melo gets the ball in Amare's favorite spot (elbow) so what does D'Antoni do with STAT? He puts him in the corner like he's Shawne Williams or someone!

When Felton finally got the P&R rolling, it was money. TD is incapable of running an offense..any semblance of an offense. We need Baron healthy and interchange Shump and TD at SG.

I don't like Grantland most of the time but this article is worth reading about Amare's struggles. Just continues to add to the evidence that our struggles are almost entirely related to coaching.

      ===============

At this point we have the worst defensive coach in the league, a coach who doesn't adjust on offense leading a roster full of players that don't fit his BS system, an undersized off-the-bench combo guard as our starting PG and an off-the-bench SG who's in a horrible funk starting at the 2.

      In summary...

      1. We have the worst coach in the league.
      2. We have the worst defense in the league.
      3. We are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league (probably due to the fact that there aren't may chances for defensive rebounds )
      4. We have one of the worst offenses in the league when it comes to sharing the ball.
      5. We have the worst starting backcourt in the league.
      6. Our coach can't figure out what to do with our All-Star PF along side Melo so instead of finding a way to blend them together he just tells Amare to work on his 3PT shot and tries to turn him into a stretch 4.

That whole "stretch 4" was one of the dumbest things I heard of in the preseason.

You have the best PF in the East and you're gonna leak him out to the perimeter and 3 point line just because you got Tyson Chandler who has zero post game?

Play Chandler weak side like Marcus Camby and let him board and catch alleys and put backs.

        Am I missing something?

Or is it all a quest to appease Menlo and try to get him triple doubles?

You're not missing anything. D'Antoni is a joke.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks are tanking to get him fired.

STAT really looks uninterested on the court. I know he's been hurt, but he isn't fired up. He's just going through the motions.

I couldn't believe he had 25 the other night. How? It just seems like quiet points. He's kind of just there and it's a shame because we know how good he can be.

Re: The 2012 New York Knicks: The Filler Year?

            From that Grantland article:

The fact that the Knicks haven't been running this play at least five times a game is mind-blowing.
That's in response to Anthony and Stoudemire running a successful pick and roll last year.

It's really mind-blowing. You don't need practice for this. These are things you can teach kids how to do. These are basketball basics.

            Pick and Roll.

            Pick and Roll.

You have a dynamic forward and a good ball handler shooter and your offense is simple Iso and shoot 20 foot jump shots?

How is D'Antoni an offensive guru with this nonsense?

Re: The 2012 New York Knicks: The Filler Year?

^^ It's just as much BS as his "Melo will be a full-time point-forward this year". Yeah right, like that's almost happened.

Mind-blowing is the only way to describe our offense. With the holidays being so busy I didn't watch any non-Knick games besides Christmas day and finally watching LAL/Portland last night just makes me cringe even more because I realize how horrible our offense is compared to the rest of the league and how little ball movement and cohesion there is.

That article was right on, there are so many basic, obvious things that we should be doing offensively that we don't do. I can't believe that D'Antoni, a former professional player, really only knows one offense and it can only be successful with an elite PG. It doesn't add up. It looks like we picked up some schmuck at the Y to coach the Knicks.

I know you're joking but Alan Hahn answered some tweets today that it's way too early for Pringles to be on the hot seat. I don't see how that can quite be the case - maybe the seat isn't hot yet but it's definitely warm.

He's a joke. I would love to be a fly on the wall during one of the coaching staff meetings to see whats really going on.

The Knicks PA announcer needs to scream out "run the pick and roll *******!" during the game.

If Paul Westphal can lose his job with a ****ty team going 2-5, why can't a crappier coach with a better team be fired for going 2-5???!!!

Seat has to be warm. The it's early excuse doesn't fly if they aren't even moving in the right direction. I missed the Kings game, where I guess the offense looked good, but every other game it has looked terrible and relied completely on 3's, and hoping that Melo goes off. I think I might be worried more about the offense than the defense because the defense has at least looked good in spurts. Bobcats game was the only game where it was completely terrible. Offensively we seem to have no idea.

The whole "Melo can be Larry Bird" stuff coming from D'Antoni just made me scratch my head. He had the whole summer to figure out what to do with Melo and Amare.

He wants Melo to play Bird's role and have the ball in his hands...fine.

So where is Amare (let's say McHale)?

                            At the 3 point line???

                            Man come on!

I caught a bit of a check-in during the Bobcats game (Time Warner customer so I don't have MSG right now) and the Knicks came down with the ball in an offensive set...and Amare ran to the corner 3 point line and stood there. Didn't move.

                            I was like WTF?!!!

Its offense and defense unfortunately imo. I cant remember a game where they've played good defense this year.

They haven't, I don't think this team is capable of playing defense for a full game with D'Antoni at the helm.
