Pretty bad, abysmal second half. No offense, no dribble penetrations just chucking. No coaching going on whatsoever. Thinking about D'antoni makes my blood boil.

Who else thinks he's the worst Knicks coach in the last 20 years?

Watching these guys the other day it struck me...Has there ever been a champ that started 2 high-scoring forwards? Bird/McHale comes to mind, but McHale was more glue and hustle than go-to scorer and Bird facilitated as well as he put up buckets.

Has a Melo/Stat type pairing ever worked?

He won't be a savior but he does have the chance to make a much bigger impact than all of the naysayers believe. We're the only team in the entire league that doesn't have a point guard on it's roster. Douglas and Shumpert are combo-guards, much closer to 2G than PG in both instances IMO. Baron was never one of the elite PnR point guards but trust me, he'll be better than Shumpert and I don't even need to mention TD's PnR abilities.

The NBA isn't like typical ball where all offense runs through your point guard obviously but having one is extremely important in almost all scenarios.

Good post. We don't have a solid point guard - please don't mention Bibby.

Davis is as good as we're going to get at this point. We just need someone to keep from turning the ball over and getting Stat the ball in a place he can score.

Not much to ask but our guys right now don't get that.

Ugh...please no more mentions of Larry Bird (sore subject/comparison around these parts).

I don't recall scoring forwards winning anything since I started watching bball. I think it could work because Melo plays more of a SG role than SF.

Although he can take it to the hole and be a slasher, Melo plays more like a jump shooting SG. Same thing goes for him posting up. He's capable of being that prototypical SF, but he doesn't do it and relies on his jumper.

The issue is that Melo is not a system player. I think the 2 can be effective but once you bring Melo onto your team, unless you have a headstrong coach, he will resort to playing Melo ball.

When he came to NY last year, they went on a little losing streak.

Melo's response was, "Let's just go out there and play ball."

Mind you, the team was winning before he got here and the offense finally hit its stride as Raymond Felton got a handle on the Pick & Roll and was running it to death with Amare.

Melo changes everything my friend.

According to @ESPNStatsInfo Carmelo ISO on 33% of his plays, a league high. FG% on his ISO plays is 28.8, ranked 66th in NBA.

And this is not a typo...

While the Knicks aren't in sync, nearly every team in the league would take a Anthony-Stoudemire-Chandler frontline. They're already anchoring a solid defense. In 2010-11, the Knicks ranked 22nd in defensive rating; this season, they're eighth. This week, Baron Davis said, "If our offense catches up to our defense, we'll be unstoppable." He could be right. The season is still early and scoring is down across the board.
