I kinda don't care if Melo got the ball and shot it if he's nit double teamed.

But to pull a guy that is ICE COLD off the bench and draw up a play for him is one of the most Amateur coaching displays I have ever witnessed!!!

Give Steve Nash that coach of the year award that he won because dude is the biggest fraud walking.

Actually I don't think that last play was for Novak. It didn't look like it was. It looked like to me that there was supposed to be some screening but nobody got loose (Until shump at the last second) and the inbounder panicked and gave it to Novak. Novak just effed up completely cuz there was enough time to pass it again, but he just turned and fired.

Regardless, Horrible execution, don't know if that was even a play or not.

And I can't blame Shump or Fields for missing those shots because they've never been in that position. They should have made em but still.

One thing I did notice is that when Boston made that run, they really, really cranked up the intensity on D and hustling. We did not. We couldn't grab a rebound, we were lackadaisical on defense when it really mattered, we gave up a layup to Ray Allen.

That play was in NO WAY designed for Novak - c'mon now. He was an option to stretch the floor and someone who can hit the 3 to keep Garnett away from the paint. Coaches do this around the NBA all the time.

Let's review this play - it's as much the player's fault as it was the coaches.

Ok, so we see Shump goes down to set a screen to free up Novak to draw the attention as if they are going to shoot a 3 from the corner. The way Novak hits that corner shows he has no intention of getting the ball to catch and shoot. Shump makes a terrible attempt at a screen then goes up and is supposed to get a pick to free him up to receive the ball. Stat AND Melo seem confused/disinterested in the play. No one seems to have any idea what is supposed to go on here as both Shump and Melo break to get open. Stat just stands there. Fields gives up on Shump and goes to Novak. Melo comes around and wants the ball.

This is just absolutely terrible execution. To be honest, we have no idea what that play was supposed to set up because it broke early with no one doing what they seemingly were supposed to.

Look - D'Antoni can get all the ire most of you want to give him due to his poor lineups, mismanagement of player personnel, etc., etc. To look at this play and not put any blame on the players is irresponsible - these guys don't have the same fire they had a year ago. I blame D'Antoni for that. But at some point someone has to hold the players accountable for their lack of committal to win a close game.

Fields said in the post game that Melo was the primary option and he went to Novak out of desperation since it was a cluster**** at the top of the key.

You bring up good points, Pared. But the question is, WHY are these cats confused and disinterested on the court? Does Pringles hold these fools accountable? What goes on during practice? Maybe he needs to go Pat Riley on them.

It amazes me how lost the Knicks are without a legit PG. I know the talent level drops off after the big three, but is crazy.

There's no excuse for that much confusion in the NBA, we'll never know if it was Shump ****ing it up or if Pringles wasn't clear when designing the play. If I had to guess I'd say that play was more on the players.

They are either gonna have to get a legit point guard or pringles has to go. The only reason his system kinda worked last year was because of billups. I would really love to see this team get back to knicks basketball and play some damn defense.

They arent interested because they are only held accountable for one side of the court, the offensive side. They have no responsibility on d, just try to grab a rebound and go.

Something that stuck with me was Steve Kerr talking about Chris Wilcox on our Christmas Day game against Boston. He said Wilcox had been on losing teams his whole career and needed to learn "winning habits" and after his first practice with Boston, he was exhausted.

“We don’t have goof-around minutes,” Rivers said. “I think he’s learning that. He had a couple of stretches (Tuesday in practice) he was phenomenal with his effort. He was exhausted. He had to sit down. We were laughing as a group. You’ve got to do that and keep playing. He’ll get that. I’ll tell you, he’s got a chance to be a big surprise.”

IMO that quote pretty much sums up the difference between a pretender like us and a contender like Boston. Whether you think D'Antoni's a good coach without players for his system or a bad coach period, I'm not convinced he passes on "winning habits" to his players. Boston obviously plays how they practice...as do we.

I think I can and will.

He keeps saying Lin should start looking for his jump shot now. Why?!

He's penetrating, finding open guys, creating movement. Let him be. And I'm feeling like someone must have said the same thing to him because he suddenly killed the flow by taking that fade-away. It's not his shot.

I hope the shoot aspect of the basketball game doesn't get into his head. He's a distributor. About time someone understands that.

Kid is actually running pick and rolls all day. I wish Stoudemire didn't have three fouls in that second quarter.
