Re: The 2012 New York Knicks: The Filler Year?

I didn't hear any quotes after the game, so I could be wrong, but I didn't see Melo and STAT not playing the rest of the way as any type of statement. To me it was just the game got out of hand, and he decided not to put them back in with Chicago tonight. I think if the 2nd unit had gotten us back into the game, Melo and STAT would have gone back in, but that never really happened.

We need a coach who is willing to hold them accountable. It's too late for D'antoni. Can't coddle them for 2 years and then suddenly turn up the heat. That said, I would love for coach to bench Melo and call him out in the media. I don't see Melo responding to it, but it could lead to a coaching change sooner rather than later.

D'antoni said that the second unit had earned the right to be out there.

Good half for the Knicks. Lets hope they come out with fire in the 3rd. they ALWAYS lose the game in the 3rd. Proof of the terrible coaching thats been going on.

              question:
what the heck was that cluster&#$@ of a play after the Ashton Kutcher free throws with 40 seconds left?

I'm done with Pringles. He just has no clue... Example...

Thibs sit Rose with 1 min left in the 3rd. Pringles sits STAT(who basically kept us in the game during the 3rd quarter) Melo & Lin also with 1 min left in the 3rd

Thibs brings Rose back to start the 4th. Pringles continues to sit STAT, Melo & Lin until 9 mins left in the 4th. In a 3 minute span we go from down-1 to down 7 before Pringles inserts those players back into the game.

                GAME SET MATCH

He has a set rotation of minutes. He sticks with it every. freaking. game.

It's hilarious really because it showcases how stubborn (that word will define him) he is.

Case in point is Anthony lighting it up early in the game against the Bucks, I believe, and what does D'Antoni do? He sits his hot player - ices him out - to start the 2nd. Why? Because D'Antoni does that every freaking game. He's gotta stick with his way no matter how things are going.

He doesn't coach to the situation. He coaches to his pre-determined plan. My brother and I spoke about this yesterday and he mentioned that D'Antoni will never call a timeout to switch things up, present a new strategy or plan of attack; he only calls timeouts when things are tanking.

I decided to watch a bit of the 4th quarter yesterday and within two minutes I saw the Knicks go from one down to 7, give up about 3 offensive rebounds and Carmelo Anthony throw his hands in the air because he didn't get the ball (that was Lin's fault for not seeing the mismatch).

In that same span I saw D'Antoni's dumbfounded face look on, no clue, no idea what to do to prevent the inevitable: a loss.

                    So I tuned off.

I noticed this as well. Rose came in early in the 2nd and 4th. Our guys sat until closer to the middle.

I didn't know what to make of it. I know if I were coaching, my star would be out there early as well.

It could also just be me, but I feel like the second squad is now a lock to be free of any of our starters. Chandler is the only person that play with just about everyone. There is so much they could have done last night in terms of matchups.

On a positive note, BD was fighting over screens. It doesn't help when Stat doesn't put his hands up, but still... it's a start.

The most frustrating thing is coming off of days off and losing.

Also a lot of fingers are being pointed at Melo. Ill admit he does make bad shot decisions sometimes but every one does. You cant sit a player like him for extended minutes then expect him ti go out and win the game.

I feel like the rotation throws everyone off.

And stat is worthless. Even when he gets a double double its when the ball falls in his hands. He never fights for boards. He doesnt box out. He stands with his hands at his side and head up. This is getting ridiculous.

The 76ers game is the first knicks game in a while i didnt even bother watching. Im so tired of hearing how they need to go out and perform and they only give 6 minutes of effort. The moment theyre down 5 you see their lack of heart.

Surprised no one has commented on taj being wide open at the end of that game. That play sums up the knicks.

Not talking about anyone specifically but it's hilarious how for all these years Pringles was blasted for having such a short rotation and now he's getting flack for sitting guys too long and playing too many guys off the bench.

Because they're both terrible coaching decisions!! Its dumb to kill your stars with too many minutes in the NBA, unless you absolutely have to.

Its also dumb to just rigidly give players minutes with no regard for the game situation.

Last night the Knicks played well but they got outcoached AGAIN.

Hearing D'anfoni last night during the Mic'd up bit was hilarious. He said nothing of value and he might as well not say anything.

Ha. True. But I don't have a problem with him having a short bench (though, he really shouldn't now because his bench is deep). I have a problem with him benching guys he needs when they are playing well.

Breathers? Sure. Give guys breathers. But he isn't giving guys breathers. He's working them into a system that he sticks to no matter the situation.

It's clockwork that Anthony sits to start the 2nd and that the starters come back in with 9 minutes to go in the 4th.

That's why he didn't care he was ruining any chemistry when he threw them back into the game against Dallas after the bench brought the team back. It was him just following the plan instead of looking at the situation and coaching to it.
