Plus I think he is enticed by being the only player with three gold medals. I definitely would rather him save his knees and legs though. I thought the same thing the last time around too

Knicks sign PG Chasson Randle to a partially-guaranteed deal.

I have no problem with Melo in the Olympics.

Not much interesting here other than the fact that we finally started to feel like a team according to PJ and then Fish was fired 10 days later. The suspense is killing me lol. It's looking like there was absolutely some truth to the tabloid bs about player girlfriends and **** that we heard. Seems like Phil didn't have much issue with him or the team at that point so to be fired within 2 weeks should be a fun story.

IIRC we were playing our best ball of the season, then Melo tripped over the ref and missed a few games, and then everything fell apart quickly.

And the day we've been waiting for... Haven't even read it yet, so excited just had to spread the news...

Phil as Get off my lawn as ever, it's kind of annoying to read.

"In the NBA, these young guys are concerned with what playing for whatever team they're on can do for them. Can playing in new York or Boston or LA or wherever add 10K followers to NY twitter account? Will the local media get me lucrative endorsements? What do I have to concentrate on to get a better contract?"

He didn't really say much from what I'm getting. Why was Derek fisher fired? He kind of alluded to it being because of distractions in his personal situation, but it's vague.

"We spent a lot of time trying to get something done, but there was no way I was going to deal our 2018 first round pick." Phil protecting our picks, I like that.

"One of our several needs will be to sign a guard who can penetrate and attack the basket in early offense and pick and roll situations." D Rose fits that bill VERY well. Cool to see a weakness identified specifically and filled months later.

Says the triangle is a system, just used to teach players what to do when they aren't doing anything. It's a format, teaches guys how to make themselves useful off the ball. He describes it as he believes it to be almost fundamental. The triangle teaches basketball skills.

Not sure how much it matters...but has anyone else seen the Instagram videos Lance Thomas posts of his workouts?

Very impressive. He has always been a good defender but he has really worked on his offensive game.

I know just because a guy posts his workout vids doesn't mean that others aren't working hard or harder. And of course he's not going to post him missing shots.

But I didn't know that Lance expanded his game.

I haven't seen any specific ones recently, but just from what I've read and seen about him it doesn't surprise me. He works very hard and is super appreciative of his opportunity, his Players Tribune article made me love his work ethic and mentality for sure.

I pretty much feel the same way as Coach Boeheim about Carmelo's chances at an NBA title.

Even Carmelo Anthony’s former coach does not think he will win an NBA title. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, who coached Anthony en route to the school’s 2003 National Championship title an…

Guess its because I'm a baseball guy but all this "he won't win a ring" stuff is just irrelevant to me. I don't even understand why NBA fans use it to say anything it just doesn't matter. I guess if Melo hops on a good team when he's washed up like Gary Payton he can avoid all of this garbage? It's just noise.

Also, the source... Were people saying it was unlikely Boeheim would ever win a title before Melo got there? How did that make him feel? Did he even care?

If you don't think Melo is going to win because he doesn't play enough defense, he's too selfish, he's not versatile enough, he can't carry a teamike LeBron then that's fine... But to just say he won't win a title is like ok... And?!

Phil Chronicles Part 7 is basically the post mortem for the season, not much surprise:

"Wed have a chance to reset everything with Kurt now in charge. But the changes that Kurt instituted in the day to day routines upset some of the younger players who weren't experienced enough to have the kind of adaptability that was needed. Still, Kurt did a terrific job in reorganizing the offense while also focusing on defense. But we never were able to get our chops back."

This is just delusional. Any reason for the team struggling under Rambis that doesn't begin with Rambis, I refuse to accept. I dont have a huge problem with this, because we know that's his guy and he wasn't going to rip him, but still, just delusional. Maybe the methods he introduced were hard to adapt to because hes not a good coach. Maybe if your players are having a hard time adapting, you try to adapt to them, but that couldn't happen because he was a bad coach.

"I don't consider hiring Fish a mistake because he worked hard and got the guys to stay as positive as possible while the losses piled up. I think the biggest mistake I made was actually this... One of the first deals I engineered when I came back to NY was to trade Tyson Chandler and Raymond Fatton to Dallas for Shane Larkin, Calderon, Wayne Ellington, Dalembert, and a second round pick that the Mavs owed to the Celtics. In talking with Boston, u was given the option of taking the pick or else taking Jae Crowder. I liked Crowder but I thought he wouldn't get a chance to play behind Carmelo, so I took the pick which turned into Cleanthony Early. While Cleanthony has missed lots of time in the past two seasons with us, he still has the potential to be a valuable player. Even so, I should have taken Crowder."

Early is now off the roster, Crowder is in Boston being a great role player. What a bummer.

Wow he missed out on Jae Crowder?! I would've kept that information to myself.
He didn't take Crowder over a 2nd round pick because he plays Melos position, but then drafts Early with the pick who plays Melo's position?!

Theres a reason I've been looking past this year and talking so much about Russ and the future man. I don't know what's going to happen with this. I don't care how talented he is or comes back and performs this season, I've just seen a pattern of obnoxiously stupid decisions going back to cheating on the SAT for this dude. Not that the test in itself is some great crime, just that it shows, IMO, a mentality. And he keeps showing this mentality every time he opens his mouth. It's ****ing infuriating. Has this guy never had a media coach? Did his lawyers not prepare him for the testimony he was going to give, coaching him around making the most asinine and damaging comments to his case possible?

I was reading on Reddit that growing up in Chicago he just had a really rough upbringing and his brother always looked out for him, to the point where to this day he doesn't know anything except for basketball and has other people do everything for him. Apparently his brother was courtside at the UC yelling out plays and telling him what to do. I just read stuff like this and I pray that KP takes the next step and becomes a superstar to the point where CP3 can save me from this now that Russ is off the table.
