Re: The 2016 New York Knicks: Now that we're done tanking...

Seriously **** DERRICK FISHER if he continues to play Calderon this much. I'm not going to waste my time watching a game that we are winning just so he can put Calderon in the game to purposely lose! WTFFF.

It's not just the bad defense which causes chaos on the court. If he doesn't give up an easy layup, someone else has to step up and now our defense is scrambling and we either give up an easy shot or we let them get an offensive rebound cuz everyone is now out of position. He's not a good passer, he's shooting under 30%. Again what the **** is he doing on the court???

The other guards are clearly outplaying him by light years.

We were up 1 with about 5 mins to go, Calderon gets in the game and we lose by a million.

I echo this. O'Quinn and Serrapin played pretty well. Does anyone know when Affialo is coming back? I didn't hear them mention him yesterday

Yeah everyone else except Lopez and Melo had a decent game. Melo had a lot of rebounds but I thought Derrick Williams & Grant should've played more minutes.

Fisher's rotations are frustrating the hell out of me right now.

Melo still taking some questionable shots and Calderon is a joke.

Potentially tomorrow, if practice today goes well.

Good. We need him. This start to this season has been crazy. All playoff teams. We have to get the next two

Melo is still getting his legs and timing back but man, with the improved roster this year playing good team ball his isolations and terrible shot selection stand out even more. He's like the last of a dying breed in the NBA, it's a reminder as to how much the NBA has changed. It legit feels weird to watch a SF isolate so often. Even with below average point guards, our best offense is PnR whether it's Lopez or Taps as the screener.

And I'm having flashbacks to the 2013 ECSF with Melo going up in traffic, leading with the ball (aka not protecting it) and getting stuffed over and over again. I guess after 13 years in the league he's never going to change but as a fan it will never stop infuriating me. Lead with your shoulder, jump into the body of the defender to create contact/space and then go for your layup. It happened a handful of times against the Spurs and also last night. He's always looking to the refs for the call (instead of getting back on D, of course) and never gets it. Rightfully so, too.

As for the elephant in the room, once Afflalo is back we better never see Calderon on the floor in the 4th quarter. I don't care who starts but Calderon can't finish the game. Have Galloway at the 1, even if I'm critical of his playmaking skills. At this point he's even a better shooter than Calderon. There isn't a single reason for Calderon to be out there in crunch time over LG.

Another nice game from Taps, obviously frustrating that he couldn't play more. He'll have a handful of these games as all young bigs do.

Agreed. I was excited after the first couple of games as Fisher was noticeably better in just about every aspect of the game compared to last year. These last two games have been brutal.

O'Quinn has played 15, 19 & 19 minutes the last three games. Sure, it's about match ups, but he needs to be on the floor more. He's averaging 8/7/2 in friggin 19 minutes on the season.

We don't need Lance Thomas on the floor for 15 minutes a night. Sure, he's more our smallball PF (along with Williams) but he has too many games like last night where he was invisible the entire time he was on the court. Get him some burn against lesser teams but he's rarely going to do anything against the better teams in the league.

And course there's our backcourt situation, ugh...

When he catches the ball down on the block, Melo doesn't necessarily look out of place with his isolations . In the triangle if the cutters arent open he can work in the post. But his pull up threes & mid-range have been way off. Strange cuz he was soo locked in those first few pre-season games. His form looks off.

O'Quinn defintely needs more minutes. If he's outplaying Lopez that night, then give him more mins than him.

I actually like Lance Thomas so far. He's been shooting a high percentage and he plays good defense. I also think that Early would play just as well if given the mins.

If we could solve this Calderon problem somehow and Fisher would get his head out of his ***. lol then they could really start racking up the wins.

I haven't had a problem with Lopez. Yeah, he was off vs CLE but our offense was a disaster and he was forced into taking some shots he should never have to take. He continues to play hard 100% of the time and he never complains - quite nice after watching Chandler and Amare the last few years.

It would be wonderful if Melo posted up more often, whether on the block or elbow. Just want to see him cut out those 1-2 dribble pull-ups from 18-20'. Right now those aren't falling outside of the WAS game, look for something else. It's not the most efficient shot to begin with anyway.

It's like Fisher doesn't even watch the games, he just plans how he's going to distribute the minutes beforehand, and that's that.
